More pics (better lighting) on post 18 - including shots with other titans

Finally finished an old project of mine - Titan Class Scorponok. I started this last year shortly after finishing my Titan class Trypticon and hearing the announcement for Titan Fortress Maximus. Getting Fort Max this summer lit a fire under me to get moving again on finishing it.

    General
I used Metroplex for size and because I felt the transformation in the legs were good for the two sides/ramps of G1 Scorponok's base mode. The figure was modified/decorated and turned around to create a more distinct look for robot mode - with the multitude of tech bits, fans, vents, etc... Very industrial, which went well with a 'base mode' that is more factory than base.

    Robot
I tried to keep decorations tied to the more distinctive aspects of Scorponok's look. The upper thighs and center chest plate being the two 'big ones' for me. Turning around the robot gave the robot similarly stubby feet to G1 scorpy. The shoulder cannons are a bit bigger than planned and I may replace them in time with something smaller. They peg on, so it's an easy change. Made sure to create a shield for one of the forearms to stay faithful and repurposed a Metroplex gun. I chose the black one to peg into a screw hole and also because the shoulder guns are less visible/notable as being Metroplex than his handguns.

    Base Mode
The tail splits into two towers for the base. The shield clips on to become a platform. There's one piece with no place to go in the other modes - and thats the center ramp from G1 Scorponok. I wanted the 3 ramp structure of G1's base mode. The rocket pods are inside the leg ramps and bionacle bits make up the factory arms. There's thin ramp pieces (gold) that go onto the thighs of the robot. The ramps are there to basically 'feed' parts to the factory arms for construction. The stinger has swing-out bits to turn it into the radar dish of the city.

    Scorpion Mode
Admittedly the weakest part. The upper body is great for this, but Metroplex has some bulky legs than can't fold over enough to transform like the G1 ones. So I added bits to the legs to make them into the tail. It looks odd from the front, but the side has a very scorpion-like shape to it (the feet combined with the other bits gives a great curvature from the side profile). It has a very construction/scorpion vibe, like the Scopronok from Transformers Energon, which had treads, shovels, etc...

    Recipe:
    • The figure was made mostly from Titan Class Metroplex (body), a G1 Scorponok (decorative bits, scorpion legs), and Armada Unicron (for the claws).
    • The guns on the shoulders came from classics jetfire/treadbolt.
    • The headmaster is legends Beachcomber with Cybertron Starscream's head.
    • The helmet is Metroplex's head/helmet with mandibles made from the legs of Beast Wars Transmetal Tarantulas.
    • The scorpion face is from RotF legend Soundwave, as are the Satellite panels on the tail/base mode.
    • The shield in robot mode comes from bits of the TF Prime Cyberverse Smokescreen jet playset
    • The rifle is from Titan Metroplex.
    • 'Factory' arms for base mode are from Bionacle.
    • The scorpion tail has the gun and cockput from Cyberverse Smokescreen's jet and the middle section comes from the jet cockpit area of Supreme Cybertron Starscream
    • I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff.

Damn. Now THIS is cool. It'd be cool if someone could make a Shapeways kit inspired by this, although I'd imagine it'd be expensive.

looks great. I'm surprised you don't like the scorpion mode. It's the strongest mode to me, at least going from the pics.

Its hard to get good animal modes without going BW style and losing the g1 bulk. I need to find a place with more lighting maybe some co.parison pics with my Trypticon ,Metroplex, and fort Max

Please destroy this post ASAP, otherwise Hasbro will pick up the idea and use Metroplex for the 3rd remold.... ;)

All my official + homemade titans
(I also have a titan metrotitan, but I bought that on eBay from another customizer [$100 fully painted - a steal] and don't want it to look like I'm passing it off as my own work).

I'd show my old/tiny Supreme-Scale Omega with the group - but he's being put to pasture as I get ready to make his titan-sized replacement.

It's a lot of parts and metro would need screws, glue, epoxy, drill holes and so much stuff to make it fit. But its a good proof of concept for any real engineering types.

    Thanks!

I wasnt too sure at first either. Metroplex has some huge legs.

Knowing Hasbro, it'll still be a remold. Just of Fort Max next time haha

One last pic - got some insignias on him. Large on the chest. Small on the helmet
