Is there a way to avoid shredding the hips on this figure? I was just about to buy it until I read up about this QC issue, it looks so good otherwise.

Could you define "fine"? Like, are they not stiff like what other owners have talked about? Not doubting you, just curious if we're looking at a more widespread issue here, or a case by case situation.

Only joint on mine that seems stiff is the tail joint. The hips on mine feel about the same as metroplex. My friend that got his 2 weeks before me says the hips on his are good too.

If you remember that Aussie utube review where he shows the articulation? The hips on mine is less stiff then his. Its making me wonder how wide spread it is.

Hopefully this is just a case by case thing then, and not a major issue like say...Brawl (granted, my CW Brawl was fine).

Damn. Now I'm not so sure I want to get Tryp if he has such a problematic issue.

I was looking forward to Tryptibabes but I may have to see if the Legends version has the same issue. I am not handy at all with mods. I tried te galvatron non headmaster mod.. total disaster.. I'm going to hold off to see if this is wide spread or if it's worth the gamble

Man, if you had a model building of that castle that Kong and Godzilla smashed into pieces between these two it will remind me of that movie.

Seems widespread to the point that Asian retailers want to wait for the legends version. How sad :(

I'm not justifying having to fix a toy out of the box, just mention that this is a very simple fix, the only thing that requires some cutting are the springs and everything else is unscrewing and then reassembling so you don't have to be too worried.

So just cut the spring in the middle? I've seen pics I wonder if there is video of the mod...

Is it really that easy to cut a spring like that? It's a genuine question, I'm not being sarcastic.
But even if us collectors can do the mod, imagine the parents who buy Trypticon for their children and are completely unaware of the problem. I see an harsh time for the customer care of retail chains...

Yes, it's definitely a shame for kids or their parents who don't have any way to know.

Just in case it hasn't been linked Seibertron.com Energon Pub Forums • Transformers Generations Titan Class Trypticon Thread There's a link to the seibertron post which describes the process with pictures, step by step. Just be careful and the basic process is quite simple; the guy just adds some extra measures as reinforcement but just the spring cutting should be quite enough if you don't feel confident. Hope it helps.

TFSource emailed this guide out to those who pre-ordered him along with a note "but the great news is we expect him in within the next week!"

Does that mean that they are admitting that it's a piece of garbage indirectly and they want you to use guide excuse to prevent them from having to service any parts for you?

Picked one up from Smyths in Leeds this morning (they have one left). Won't get it home for a few hours yet, hoping to get the fix done and have him menacing Autobots by nightfall :)
