This figure is really under appreciated. I know it’s just personal bias but this has been my favourite figure since I picked him up about three years ago. I’d love to see TR Bee in fiction some day
Very beautiful scenes, first one, dark and mystic is perfect for Galvatron and sea with thunders, with vehicle mode Tf is splendid!
I forgot I made a very crude and honestly not very great Custom Snapdragon Headmaster in anticipation for his Earthrise figure.
“Wheelie say...I’m fricked today!”
trypticon is such an awesome looking figure.
So I’m working on a custom using the Broadside mold, and I needed to add parts on his back that will allow a large segmented plate to sit and be able to break apart for robot mode. I’m a little lacking in some tools, but I do have some junker figures to use.
so I present to you a Broadside with a person growing out of his back. I have to see it, now you do too.
...I feel like Pipes should have a trail of smoke coming out of his neck in the background of your picture...
Oh yeah. When I was going through my bin looking for figures I didn’t care about I saw Pipes and was like “Oh yeah, this is shit. I’ll use it for parts on something.
Can’t believe I finally acquired these! Just need to find a good deal on a Legends God Bomber now ...
Starscream surely will enjoy the elegant dark room the most and is also very suggestive in CW topic the scene where First Aid look at Chromedome.
How long before the first Metalhawk crumbles? Should we start a betting pool?
I hope that it never happens because it's a darned nice figure...
...but if the schedule holds, it usually takes 6-7 years. Metalhawk was a 2017 release, right?
I thought modern day toys didn’t suffer from gps
GPS or not I was always upset they made him gold. Should have been based on the Cartoon. I remember seeing that TR figure and not being able to figure out who it was supposed to be.
Not sure how long you have been in the hobby but folks have been saying this for 20 years!
The problem is that it takes time for the volatile compounds to dry up...or whatever happens chemically to progress and for the figures to crumble. We're constantly lulled into thinking that it doesn't happen anymore. It just takes too darned long to prove that to be false by the time it does happen, they're already
"old" figures and surely this new metallic gold/brown/swirly whatever won't suffer the same fate!
The bad news...getting into some speculation here.... is that Hasbro cares only slightly (if at all) if these figures hold up over time. They are only worried about the current quarterly earnings, like most corporations. They're not going to invest in keeping their products fresh for a decade after they've gone out the door.
Worse still, even if they did care, the figures that are crumbling now were produced by a team that has been completely replaced by new people, maybe twice. The knowledge of GPS is lost and it's a problem the current team doesn't even know that they need to fix.
So... in the case of Metalhawk, it could be the case that it never suffers from GPS, perhaps just by luck and the properties of the available plastics at the time it was made. We won't know for 6-10 years if we really are safe or not. There's nothing we can do about it so enjoy your figures now and hope for the best.
This would be a good question for Aaron Archer who appears on podcasts fairly often. He has turned out to be a super cool guy and very generous with insights.
That’s some fair speculation and not without good reason. I remember watching a video showing what happened to a BW figure. It was pretty horrific. Do we know what the last figure to suffer gps was?
Metal Hawk is really well done. Here’s hoping he lasts many years to come...and doesn’t crumble into pieces someday xD
On Transformers Slag, someone reported Combiner Wars G2 scheme Slingshot is turning up with GPS (just as everyone joked in 2015). I haven’t seen this with my own eyes but it’s not hard to believe.
Protoman (the host) said that Hasbro is aware of the problem (and they use gold paint instead) but sometimes they forget. This looks like an example.
Agreed! I never managed to snag one but I love that mold and his color scheme is amazing.
