One thing that occurred to me is that TT is hot on the interactivity of the MP line, what with the carbots made to fit in Prime's trailer, Soundwave and his cassettes, and Ultra Magnus scaled to hold four carbots. What's more interactive than a combiner? Given the time, talent, and budget, I've no doubt the MP designers would create something that every TF fan would be talking about.
When we saw those blurry photos it was like "well, the proportions are there on scrapper and I can't see the arm but with everything else so right, how could the rest of the figure look bad?" And... here we are. Mixmaster is a trash foot and in full view the arms are wimpy wimpy wimpy. Good luck to you if you get between me and this thing in a store though.
Besides the sizes of the head and left foot, Devastator looks pretty good! I hope I can get him for a decent price.
I'm hearing all the 3rd party groups rubbing their hands together greedily now with plans to make a bigger head and a different Mixmaster, because I think those are the two most glaring issues I see with this. Otherwise, everything else looks fine.
I know a lot of people hoped this would be a really good Devy, and that it would represent the old school combiners solidly, but......it looks like they tried to mix the 3rd party Hercules with G! Devastator, and this is what they got. It looks like the legs aren't equal length,so it's tilted. The head and arms seem waaay too small and the torso seems too bulked up thanks to the treads on the arms. The left foot is smaller than the right. It's just mis-proportioned everywhere. It feels like they rushed it out the door to make sure it made it for the first year of Combiner Wars when they should've taken their time with it and made it the final combiner release. It's sad, but an easy pass for me. These are just my opinions. Others may find something good in it. I just don't see it.
Oh WOW! Are you sure. I knew he was going to be big, but that's ridiculous. Even with 3P upgrades, no other Hasbro combiner comes anywhere near that size. If he really is that big, I might have to skip this.
Reading through the first ten pages, I'm appalled to see there are more complaints than praise over this figure. The poster above me exemplifies the shitty attitude around here. I wouldn't be surprised if Hasbro is embittered by the fandom by now.
I think the legs are the same length, it's tilted because someone moved 1 leg but forgot about the other.
(inserting holy music) Okay that's out of the way I think Devastator looks awesome! Sure, there are some issues, but you got to give Hasbro credit that they tried to give us a G1 styled Devastator. Still opinions varies on this and that's cool to each their own.
Hasbro is well known for their skills in presenting misstransformed figures at shows. To me, it felt like this also happens to Devy. I also think the angle is quite unfortunate. There is potential with this guy and I think with proper transformation and a good pose, you´ll be much more satisfied. I was nearly blown away, when I had him standing in front of me.
Are you disappointed that Hasbro didn't employ dramatic thunderstorm lighting at their Toy Fair showroom? Because otherwise I fail to see much of a significant difference between that art and the toy, beyond the caterpillar tracks being integrated into the torso. I mean, I guess the Mixmaster cab-foot is a little smaller, and he doesn't have gigantic beefy forearms, but that doesn't exactly ruin the toy if you ask me...
Guys, keep in mind that pose is God awful. No figure would look good standing there like a drunken idiot. A good pose can make or break a figure.
