Here he is so far, fully functional and diaper-free! I cut the stupid thing completely off with the expectation of having to do more modding, but I discovered that the tracks underneath it was enough to keep the legs on as they were and still allow normal transformation. Now it kinda looks like you can see his balls. To do this: Cut each diaper half off (only cut down to the blue parts, don't cut the blue parts!), slide those blue tracks up a bit (they need a little trimming to be able to slide up to the screws), glue everything together securely, and there you go! The diaper serves no purpose other than to have a rivet run through it to secure the waist panels. Good glue works just as well. I may do more to him yet (like get his waist to slide up into the body), but I'm pretty happy with him as he is, except for the stupid legs that won't stay extended.
Wow, looks much better like that, I can't believe how bad they screwed up Soundwave, his original transformation would have worked.
Alt mode looks exactly the same, minus the parts I cut off. His alt mode looks goofy already, it doesn't hurt it any IMO. Quick, blurry pic:
Good work. The evil diaper is much better, and the little tabs left are a much lesser evil than what was there before. Like that I'd be happy to display him in bot mode. Well, almost. Still, a whole lot better, good work.

Thanks for the comments! I think I may have found a way to do away with his "balls" altogether, but it would alter his tape deck mode. They don't really bug me that much, so I probably won't do it.
I finally figured out how to fix his loose legs! All you need to do is take apart the lower legs, which are held together with one screw per leg, and then you have access to the inner sliding parts. Coat the tabs on the part that connects to the knee with some clear nail polish, let it dry, and re-assemble! The added friction from the nail polish keeps them from sliding down! Super glue would probably work as well, just make sure not to glue anything together.
That looks pretty good. I might've tried that on mine, but I returned mine the day after they announced the MP3 player. They should have just done a better job on this one in the first place.
would you mind doing a few more pics, showing some detail and that aren't blurry? this might make or break the figure for a lot of us, and more pics would allow us to make that decision. thanks
Sorry, my camera crapped out right after I took those, but there's not much more to it than what you see. The first pic is as clear as the images are gonna get. When I get the camera running again, maybe I'll take a pic of the underside of the crotch, if that's what you mean.
