Customs: Tips on making 1/6 scale Power Rangers/Super Sentai figures?

    I want to make 1/6 scale power rangers figures, but before I do, I want to practice, and before I do that, I need tips. I plan to make the MMPR White Ranger first, using just some random 1/6 scale body I have.Anyone know what I could make the sheild and gloves/boots out of? I plan to make the head/helmet and sword out of sculpting putty.
