Hey guys! Just wondering if anyone here knows where I can get small, tiny ball joints/ like the size of the ones that are found on the DMK Bumblebee kit for the door wings? I know I've seen some from HLJ, but I don't know how small those really are. If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be awesome! THANKS!
Lego has new small ball joints in their "mixels" line. Might be worth looking into since they are cheap.
They may be very similar to the mixels, but how about Mega Blocks figures? They have ball joints and can be bought individually or in groups...
I use 4mm Revoltech joints for Cyberverse customs and they're the perfect size. VERY hard to find, though. If you get the standard ball joints through HLJ, the 4 to 6mm are the ones to get. The downsides are that the cups are kind of wide, the softer ones don't hold paint or glue all that well, and the hard clear ones expand when primed (no idea why, but they do).
Yaujta, could you let me know if the joint you're talking about are the small or medium joints. Thanks!!
I've used the tiny ball-joints from HLJ before, flexible pipe I think it was called. I wouldn't recommend them for any transformer work, very fiddley to assemble and the ball-joints don't hold too well. As the other guys said, lego or any other small alternative should suffice.
It all depends. I've had both success and failure with these ball joints. If you mount them properly, they're great. If you have to work to get them mounted, there's a better chance of them failing. Examples of joints- Revoltech 4mm ratchet joints for the spider arms, bot arms, neck and waist: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/983322-cyberverse-blackrarachnia-completed.html Standard Kotobukiya ball joints for the dragon neck, tail and mandibles: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/954256-ultimate-predaking-completed.html
The Revoltech joints I got from Amiami, but they haven't been in stock for ages now. Hobby Link Japan has some ball joints, but it seems that their stock is limited, too. Amazon has them, but at slightly higher prices. Then again, take in the consideration of shipping from the two other sites and the price balances out.
