Okay, so it looks like I can order from either Super7 or BBTS. Thoughts on advantages disadvantages of one or the other? Leaning in the direction of just ordering directly from Super7...
I've never ordered directly from S7's store, but I've heard that their shipping can be way overpriced. By comparison, BBTS has their POL (Pile Of Loot) option that you can build for three or four months worth of purchases and dramatically save you on shipping. That of course would mean you'd have to intend on buying more than just these from them. I preorder with them on a regular basis and they're my first go-to online retailer when things are in stock so it works out way better for me to go with BBTS. My last POL for example had something like thirty figures, came in a huge box that was half as tall as myself, and I only paid $30 to ship it via FedEx. Shipping each of those items as they'd come in stock would have probably cost me double that amount or more other places.
Just FYI I asked about any changes to Panthro and Lion-O on super7’s IG account and they replied basically indicating that these are straight reissues (although I still expect Panthro’s shorts to be fixed). I thought Lion-O’s paint job looked a lot different but guess it’s just due to lighting or prototype differences or something...BBTS initially had them listed as “variants” but now has changed it to “ver 2” which still leaves room for changes and makes me want to double down even though I guess I know better. Edit: reading further into the Super7 IG post comments Brian Flynn mention there will be subtle differences including corrected Panthro shorts and a corrected logo on the sword.
This happens with age pal, it's all down hill past 40. Anyway, I'm passing on Crackers, Snowman, and Pumara and I'm in on the rest.
S7 should send corrected swords to those who already bought the first wave lion-o. I do not need two lion-o and at $45 each there should of never been an error on the marquee character.
From comparisons I've seen between S7's first release and the Mattel release S7 somehow managed to screw up the sword's cat symbol... it looks really off on S7's version for some reason. Again, at least in the two reviews and various pics I've seen online since I don't own either.
It never bothered me, but it looked like the Eye of Thundera is too small. Also, it may not be as well painted as the original. I watched the Toy Bro video where he was complaining about it, but the resolution of the video must not have been high enough. The only thing I could discern was that it was too small. I just want the most desirable version. I figure I can sell off the Lion-O I have in-hand once this new release is no longer available. Might take a while, but I'm content with playing the long game.
as much as i love the 80s toon, i like the 2k remake character updates better so when S7 gives us these with metal Berbil armed Panthro! These are my TCs and these I'm all in for
If I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that S7 would eventually give us 2011 versions of the characters I'd wait for these. Despite growing up with the original show I enjoyed this version infinitely more and was sad to see it not continue beyond the first season.
yeah Bandai screwed the pooch with the toys and got the show canceled, i think now though if a real toy company with better sense could take the reigns we could continue the show where it left off, i feel the same way about the updated he-man cartoon
I don't think it's so much that they overorder as it is they undersell. Because in my experience, manufacturers/distributors have a really difficult time delivering what and how much you ordered. They don't want to count on X, only receive some fraction of X, and then have to face angry customers.
Wow, I certainly got lucky then. Popped in a preorder at BBTS for the 4 I was after from wave 1 and 2. ETA 4th Q 2021 suits me fine whilst I also catch up on Neca TMNT in the short term.
Thank you Jebus! A month ago I ask on here if they was going to release more of wave 1 because I missed out, I thought I was going to have to pay Ebay prices. But I just did my pre-order with Bbts for Lion O and Panthro, now I have something to go with the ThunderTank.
