Between me and my brother we had all the Throttlebots growing up, they were like the new generation of minibots to me good little affordable pocket money bots and who didn't like a pull back motor feature (the simple things in life) Rollbar was my favourite which is a shame as I just couldn't get his colour right but aside fro that I'm happy how they came out. I did hold off for ages trying to find a suitable solution for Wideload but in the end I wanted them to all be around the same height like the original g1 toys were so when I saw this base for Wideload used already I just felt it looked right I like the all one colour toy/toon look and tried to go with toon headsculpts, wanted to make these guys for so long now and was nice to revisit the old g1 toys at the same time. I'm 100% sure Rollbar and Freeway were mine and Chase and Wideload were my brothers can't definitely remember who had Searchlight and Goldbug. I appreciate this has been done many times before but thought I'd share my attempt and that I can't believe we still haven't got a full updated set of the Throttlebots yet
Most impressive. Very good color-matching. Some of the paint on the arms looks a bit thick, but covering black that isn't primed can be bothersome. Aside from that little nitpick, great job!
Thanks, there definitely not my best work but I was speed painting and speed head sculpting. I've had s bad phase the last year that I lose intreast on projects so quickly I risk not finishing them at all. So when there arrived on a Tuesday I had 4 evenings to try get them all done before we went on holiday, I don't think I've ever tried to sculpt 4 heads in one session before haha by the time I got to searchlight the last one the putty was going off but I really wanted his iconic searchlights on his feet, in the end I got the effect I wanted, some of those tamiya acrylic paints thin down really nice foe painting whike other colours are horrible to supply well and don't thin down at all. (Blast you white!)
These look amazing, great work the set came out looking really nice. I was wondering how you got the extra lights on the hood for Searchlight...great job on the sculpting.
Me too that sky blue is a lovely colour and went onto him really well he was also one of my favourites
