This line sounds perfect on paper, ThreeZero quality with a scale better suited for my collection, but I don't really like aesthetic. Primes head looks weird and the blocky shoulders and boxy lower legs don't mix well with the more “realistic”, layered sculpts sprinkled throughout the body. If anything it makes me like the Bumblebee movie Prime even more because that design does what this attempts to, but much better.

Articulation looks amazing though, the knee joints are fantastic.

why can\'t we get an optimus prime figure that looks this good, is fully articulated, and has a smooth and clean transformation into a kibble-free truck mode without sacrificing the robot mode?

Yeah thats kind of the case. These are fun articulated figures at a good price., but with insane details Kind of like CHUG for adults.

Because doing all of those is a bigger challenge than you'd think. Hard to do torso articulation especially when stuff needs to hide in there.

Hey i love my 3rd party stuff. Got my MMC Pexus, Kultar, and Tyranatron on the shelf :D . In fact after I shifted to MPs almost all my CHUGs got the cut on my shelf except my MMC stuff and titans.

Can't wait to add Kultar Eris to my MP shelf.

If you think about it ThreeZero IS A 3rd party company.

Oh man I would love for the MDLX to be MMC scale! We know Bumblebee is 5 inches and we know Optimus is significantly bigger. I wonder if it will work?

Yes, I work for the company that made that. But also:

Pexus is a folded up slab. That's a lot easier than something that has to look like an actual truck and still transform into something that is 1) clean and 2) super articulated. Those wheels and the bumper have to go somewhere internal. And that makes a proper ab crunch tricky, let alone side to side.

Are Earthrise Optimus and MP-44 not good enough for you?

earthrise is good, but there is a bumper on the back that ruins the silhouette, wand limits the waist rotation. mp 44 is already beaten by transform element op leader by having knees that don't break, and virtually no backpack

I like Prime but the head looks a little weird, especially the eyes. Hope it’s just an awkward angle. Excited to see more of Rodimus and Megatron

torso is broken, also the truck mode (as with all prime figures) has a very messy back end

You could say some 3rd party companies try to do that... a couple releases from Unique Toys comes close... but to do it at a deluxe or voyager scale would mean making very tiny, very delicate parts that probably would end up being a QC nightmare.

I have been collecting for a very long time. I have so many transforming versions of Optimus that I am happy to just get an excellent looking and posing action figure.

Damn!!! He looks nice. His rifle is about the size of Bumblebee just eyeballing it from the case pic. I’m not too fond of the Megatron design. I’m really hoping this comes with more of a toy type head with yellow eyes.

So here is how I'm going to resolve this. When i want to "transform" my ThreeZero Optimus I will take the figure, grab another figure of similar scale, size design, and transform that instead . done! I get the joy of Transforming without sacrificing the robot mode of my ThreeZero.

All joking aside, I've collected enough figures at this point that I'm not really looking for whole package, just specializations niche stuff like this.

You could buy a die cast vehicle in similar scale, then do like the super-awesome-not-at-all-garbage Netflix War for Cybertron Trilogy and move the ThreeZero figure behind something that obscures your vision and have the vehicle emerge on the other side.
Or you could just look away and replace the figure with the vehicle or the converse -like when the camera would pan away and pan back; just make the transformation sound like in the show.
An easier choice would be to just pretend the character really is a member super-awesome-not-at-all-garbage Netflix War for Cybertron Trilogy because then there's an 80% chance that character wouldn't even have a vehicle mode at all.
