I’m not really in on the wfc line but wouldn’t mind having one nice thing that represents the line as a whole. This would check that box for me. Similar to Banana Forces RID fire convoy, I’m not hoarding a bunch of old RID figures but it’s nice to have one thing that represented transformers from that era. Hopefully that didn’t sound too dumb.

ThreeZero rarely disappoints. What can be seen in this teaser looks pretty sick.

Fair, we'll have to wait for more pictures and see if they've really changed it up. From what I can tell they've changed his proportions to make it more heroic and less like the actual toy. But since they're trying to be faithful to the design there isn't much they can do different other than painting it up, giving it battle-damage and upsizing it.

Makes more sense with the movie figures sure but it can still hold true for this design as well. People may not be into collecting an entire line of toys but may still enjoy the WFC Netflix series, so they buy this as a centrepiece for the series instead if they care enough about it. It's the same with Star Wars. Some fans don't collect the mainline toys but will buy HotToys instead. ThreeZero DLX is Transformer's HotToys.

While this is a pass for me there is zero cause for people to put down the people who love this design, and I'm sure there is a market for it. I mean hell there is a market for those creepy chibi primes, so I'm sure there's a market for this. It's not like we are starved for Optimus choices.

Agreed. It’s not for me, the most I can honestly say is that it looks great with the weathering and the scar (finally a WFC Optimus with a scar) and it’s going to be crazy posable. I mean, that ab crunch is beautiful.

My “why?!?!” post with Knockout was mostly a gut reaction, and I still feel that, to an extent as I still don’t get why Netflix used CAD models and never bothered to tweak them to get rid of the gaps and peg holes. I just wish that Netflix did tweak the models more than just textures because this Threezero piece would look even better without the obvious “toy” elements. Nonetheless, this does have it’s fans and I’m happy that they are looking forward to it.

I think you’ve made your stance pretty clear on this. You think it’s superfluous and you won’t buy it because it’s not worth it.
Tbh I agree with you, but it obviously isn’t that way for a lot of people who actually think this is cool. You don’t need to go and try to make other people feel bad for disagreeing with you. “Swindled” is relative to worth, and considering how subjective worth is, it seems crazy to shame people for wanting this Jsut because you dont agree with it.
My dad thinks collecting toys as a whole is a waste of money and that i’m swindling myself by buying them. *shrugs* I make tons more money than he ever has so he can fuck right off with his opinion. It’s worth it to me, as this figure will be worth it to many others.

I think it looks very cool. Though I can’t find a single ounce of justification for buying it, I can see people really liking this. I am happy this option exists.

 

Boy I sure love to get swindled by trading money for a big high end collectible figure of a design I like with crazy articulation, gorgeous paint, realistic weathering and a hefty solid diecast skeleton.

They're nowhere near the same in terms of articulation, quality and having a diecast frame underneath.

I rather have Threezeros DLX over some cheap looking toy if I wanted a War for Cybertron Optimus in my collection. Threezeros figure actually looks like it came out of the show with it's paintjob.

I think some people are hung up on the idea that its a toy based on a toy, but they really shouldn't be, these to figures are nothing alike in terms of how they are going to feel to handle or play with. also nowhere close in price which is why my broke ass cant afford to get him, but if i could i would
