It's been a long, slow decline. Oh well, I just hope the Warhammer 40k rights find a good home.

    they already gone.

    earlier this month:

Sega Signs Warhammer License « Press X or Die

ah I guess that just pertains to warhammer and not 40k. but sega will probably snatch that up too and have them all under one roof.

I was never a fan of thq games. They were a good company though.

Hopefully Saints Row 4 still gets made, taking into consideration how amazing Saints Row The Third was.

So.. What happens to South Park: The Stick of Truth? Another developer purchases it?

Bit confused regarding Chapter 11s. What happens to all the existing creditors? Does the new owner pay them off? Also, what about other existing legal liabilities? Do those still exist, or is this new THQ essentially a separate entity?

I can only hope the WWE license finds a better home. That series has not been the same since Here Comes The Pain. WWE 13 is good, but still plagued with some niggling bugs.

their big franchises will find new homes. so will the devs.

matt & trey will make sure that stick of truth happens. from what I've read they've been the backbone of that game anyway, so this is just a minor setback. we'll get it eventually.

I hope this doesn't kill the chance for a Space Marine sequel. Freaking loved that game.

Darksiders and Space Marine were awesome games.

Let's hope those projects get picked up and further developed.

Saint's Row and Darksiders are mainly what I care about from THQ, so I really hope they survive.

God I love this statement. HTCP was pretty much the climax of the series and it was one of the first, what? Three SD! games?

I want to say it was the fifth -

    SmackDown!
    SmackDown: Know Your Role
    SmackDown: Just Bring It
    SmackDown: Shut Your Mouth
    SmackDown: Here Comes the Pain

Ever since the switch to SmackDown! Vs Raw, the series has really been up and down, and nowhere near HCTP. The Road to Wrestlemania stuff was interesting at first, but really went downhill - culminating in WWE 12's lame offering. I did like the GM Mode in 06 and 07, but the AI always managed to be able to put on high rated shows week after week with none of the human player's limitations. Very frustrating. SvR 08 was a mess and 09 and 10 had boring and silly career modes. The introduction of Universe mode was a start in 11, but it still has issues that need to be worked out (booking primarily). I would love a combination of GM and Universe if it could be done.

On the plus side, customization options have been greatly increased to the point where you can set up your own brands with custom logos and arenas using all created wrestlers if you wish. Attitude Era mode I found to be very refreshing after the downward spiral of Road to Wrestlemania.

But I do think THQ/Yuke's have run their course - lately it seems that with every new game, they introduce a cool new feature and/or fix old issues but at the same time break something else (i.e., the pin system in WWE 13 - lots of one count falls even after beating your opponent senseless. I have had two counts but they are infrequent). It's time for a fresh take on wrestling. Who could do it? No idea. I'm tempted to say EA, but that makes me uneasy. Midway? Time will tell.

There ya go! Honestly, I stuck with No Mercy up until HCTP. I tried a few of the SD! games before that, but I just couldn't get down with them. Aki was so much better than Yukes.

Loved SvR 2006 as well, but nowadays, playing shit like WWE 13 is just junk to me. The controls have went to hell, the collission system is junk... just ugh. Should've changed things up years ago.

And it's weird, because on the flip side: UFC Undisputed is fucking amazing.

I wish I'd had No Mercy. So many wrestling game fans hold that up as the gold standard for WWE games, but I've never played it. I have played every SmackDown since Know Your Role and I even played both RAW's. The best is still HCTP. WWE 13 could have been right there....I mean, I love how you can basically set up your own wrestling federation! But the pin-glitch and the way Universe mode books things...I dunno.
