Bought him for full price and didn't regret it. The jet mode isn't great, definitely a step down from either of his previous CHUG figures but it's still passable (better than either of ER Astrotrain's modes are without modification). But the tank mode and robot modes are just so much better, there's just no contest between the three IMO. The tank mode finally looks solid and armored, the cockpit is goofy but you can just pretend it's a cheesy 80s scifi GI Joe kind of tank, and the silver paint in robot mode is the perfect finishing touch.

Legacy blitzwing is epic. They did a great job for a movie/cartoon/comic that has long ended. He represents. Could the jet be better… not in chug scale for 60$ without sacrificing the robot mode to achieve the better jet… I would not pay commander price for a better Blitzwing… he wasn’t that notable of a character in any G1 media… people would just complain about that too. He’s great… not perfect.
Show me a perfect toy and I’ll introduce you to a 100 neck beards that will find something wrong with it.

Pretty great bot and tank mode and everyone's already said everything on the jet mode.

Would have happily scrapped the hands for some fire and ice blast effects.

What are those hands actually for? Has anyone figured that out yet…

With Legacy Blitzwing, it's not a case of philosophically arguing about an issue. This is a severly compromised toy which fails to deliver on two out of three modes, also because of a misguided homage to a design limitation from 35 years ago. It's the same as releasing the next OP with partsforming fists.

Part of the Energon weapons gimmick that other year one Legacy figures had, I believe (Arcee's blades, Bulkhead's gatling gun, Elita's guns, Skids' axe) that never really went anywhere.

Yup, the MFT version but the trouble is that it's a legend sized. Otherwise, he's 100x better than the Legacy one. Should it get oversized to voyager size, I'd jump on it.

And Leaders aren't 60$ are, there are close to 90$CAD, something that US citizens tend to not understand.

The robot mode is the only saving grace of Legacy, so on average of all three modes, the TR one still stands out easily as the better one and I have no trouble sticking to it, should it end up being the last Blitzwing I ever get.

If third party figures are unlicensed toys why don’t Hasbro steel the design… it’s not like they can sue.

That figure has been very divisive since it got revealed. I think the vast majority agree that the bot mode is great. It’s the two alt modes that people don’t agree.

I think the tank mode is mostly good too. I just think the nosecone is too long. Honestly the thing they should have done is add some parts, so the nosecone is optional. You want a G1 easter egg ? You can. You want a cleaner tank ? You can too. It’s frustrating because there is definitely room inside, and they should have made the cone a little shorter. I don’t know how budget works, but they should have dropped those stupid hands to make the figure even better.

The jet mode is clean and great, I don’t know what people are talking about

I’ve had it for a few months. It’s quite underwhelming IMO. The adherence to animation accuracy in the vehicle modes leads to compromises that stopped this figure from being almost perfect. Also the backpack doesn’t tab or lock in for robot mode, which is quite annoying at times. Better than anything we’ve gotten, yes. But those flaws really bring it down a bit in my opinion.

I paid $30 for mine. For that price I like it because it's gonna be in robot mode anyway

The energon weapons thing feels like Hasbro brought someone's overhyped college freshman nephew on as an executive and told them "Come up with the new gimmick that will revolutionize Transformers and triple sales" and what they came up with was "They have clear plastic weapons that are energon weapons and are really neat because they are made of energon that transformers like and it's rly powerful"

Because 3rd Party figures doesn't pass the safety test (drop test, etc). Remember this is still a line for Kids, not Masterpiece.

I think US Citizens can understand that fine. It's just that that's not what we pay for a Leader class now. How many people would honestly try and weigh their purchases on what it would cost if they were in another country? It looks like Hasbro took the conversion rate and basically added $10, and that sucks for Canadian fans, but someone here in the US has zero reason to look at a figure and try to factor in how much it would cost in another country. On top of that, they would have to weigh on what their spending money converts to, too.

We in the US can empathize with how it's more expensive for Canadians, but it's not remotely reasonable to expect us to always keep in mind what the cost in X country would be over what we'd pay here.

The whole "One of the triple changer modes always has to suck" argument was a hell of a lot more persuasive when triple changers were voyager classes instead of Leader classes. There's no excuse for the jet mode being this bad at the leader budget. All they had to do was share parts between modes, paint the flip side purple and invert the figure unto itself. Instead both the tank and jet share almost no parts and the kibble is obnoxious. And don't even get me STARTED on the hulk fists. At the time the hasbro apologists were saying "It'll all make sense when it synergizes with future releases" welp, those never materialized. Sure wish the plastic budget wasted on them could have gone towards a head cover in the tank mode or additional engineering to conceal the cockpit if so desired.

    A perfectly fine political answer.

It's part of why I've stated at some point that I look forward to the next time the US dollar crashes hard again and things flip, I know that it will be amusing to see how quickly opinions change.
