Yeah, I read about this on Yahoo, and saw a commentary video about it on YouTube the other day. I'm not sure why they thought an encyclopedia would be thick enough to stop a .50 cal bullet. Not even sure why the dude thought it was a good idea to hold that very book in front of him.....but oh well. R.I.P.

A set of encyclopedias maybe. Seriously why would you use a .50 Cal pistol for this? Not that they should have been doing it at all.

I disagree. From the article I read, she didn't want to do it, but he was relentless in his pursuit of Fame and money on YouTube, she finally relented and gave in to his wishes. She had no desire to do the stunt, let alone kill him.

She's suffering enough living with guilt and knowing her children will grow up without a father because of her.

I have no doubt she'll never, ever do anything like this again. He's to blame and he's paid the ultimate price.

Maybe rolling heads and blood from a stone isn't necessary this time.

People will do anything for fleeting fame... even kill themselves. Sometimes, you have to listen to the little voice in your head that's saying, "Hey stupid! This is not a good idea!" I swear, the people that are the most fertile are the ones that don't deserve children.

Yeah read about this a day or two ago. Guy was a moron. What idiot ever thinks this is a good idea? Never watch "stunt" or "practical joke" stuff on youtube. It only encourages morons.

Yeah, off topic but, I read an article where a dude was filmed by his friends jumping into the water and wrestling a small baby shark onto the dock. They said he threw it back into the water, but I don't think those dumb kids realized that if the shark's gills dried out, it could have died. But no, all the kids were cheering as if the dude did a badass thing as opposed to a dumbass thing.

I get the whole idea of doing stunts to become famous. Evel Knievel anyone? But people like him prepare for their stunts for months, maybe even years, before attempting them. Did this guy at least test the power of the gun against the encyclopedia from that distance first? I'm no gun expert, but I would just assume a gun of that power would fire straight through the book with relative ease.

    Tragic and stupid.

Sounds like an episode of Mythbusters gone bad. Hey, can an encyclopedia stop a bullet? Not at fucking point-blank range! (She shot him in the chest from a foot)

My sympathies for the lady and her kids. She didn't do it on purpose, and I hope that fact is recognized.

Well...I own firearms, and I can tell you that one encyclopedia will NOT stop a .50 cal bullet. I've fired a desert eagle .50cal hand gun on several occassions and it made my hand feel numb the first time I shot it. Same thing with a Smith and Wesson 500 (seriously look that one up). Those are powerful handguns. Not to be underestimated unless you're asking for trouble.

Oh it should be. It's been stated in every article and YouTube commentary video that she was against it from the beginning, but the dude was seeing nothing but stardom and fame, and insisted on doing it. It's a shame. Personally, I feel bad for her because I know she must feel terrible to say the least.
