1) Does Deformation Space count? I know Starscream actually hit late last year, but Blaster and the other Seekers were this year, right?

 

I've not picked up that many new figures (comparatively) this year, but what I have has been pretty good, so it was tough to cut some. My decisions aren't based as much on how objectively good the figure is, but more on how pleased I am to have that figure in my collection.

All of these I have been waiting a long time for, so it's satisfying to finally have them all and they be as good as I'd hoped. I hope to have MMC D-Zef, Bingo Toys Windgirl and Wonderful Trans Ronin before Christmas as well, so these may change still. Honourable mentions go to FT Chomp (great figure, but just just didn't quite spark as much joy in me as those other three), XTB Jannsen (lost out due to putting the IDW sniper rifle with another repaint, which pissed me off), and XTB Overheat (Racing ver.) (technically a repaint, so doesn't count, but a repaint I sorely wanted).

Edit... D-Zef, Windgirl and Ronin all shipped; however, the latter is unlikely to reach me before the new year. The first two I now have, and although D-Zef is amazing, it was missing a spring, so I won't be able to fully appreciate it until it's fixed in the new year; and Windgirl (although fantastic), isn't good enough to knock any of my original choices from the top slots, so they stand as is.

1) At the moment, I can't decide between FansToys and XTB. They've both put out an impressive number of new molds this year, and whereas FT products probably edge slightly ahead in terms of quality, they're treading on old ground with their releases... replacements rather than gap fillers... so I'm less excited for their current catalogue. Plus they seemingly get more 'toony with each release, which isn't to my taste at all. XTB has to take it, then... their releases this year and going forward , I'm just more interested in.

Sure, but Deformation Space was new for 2022 while Transform Element has been around for a while. They are both Black Mamba while I'm sure we'll get some Robot Paradise/FT votes as well as Moon Studio/Zeta votes. I'd be shocked to see Vectron Labs winning this one so it may end up being an old player under a new name that wins. Up to Mr Hazard as to how he'd like to define "newcomer". I'm happy to say I like what Deformation Space did in the short time they were with us no matter how the judges rule on this one.

Is Bingo toys actually independently new and not an offshoot of someone else? And didn't they do Shockwave in 2021? Lemon Tree was also new in 2021 but I can't say they aren't someone else as well. Tough to think of many totally new players in the past 12 months. (Not picking on you, Hal237, but an open question to everyone trying to figure this out).

 

Maybe it is because I am one of those very few people in these type of threads who vote for non G1 figures. Nice to have you back!
