Personally I don't give a f#*k how 3p companies name their figures. If they would call their figures banana1, banana2 or whatever, I wouldn't care. For me they are called like the original character they are representing.

Springer is a catchy and memorable name.

The origins of the word refer to 'Knight' and his original design did have a knight-ish look to it and a sword to boot.

Since 'der Springer' is the german name for the knight chess piece (and the dude has a sword) I've always associated Springer with being 'knightly'. Plus he's a commando in most of the comic fiction, who can air drop himself into action (& airlift himself out after) so what about the engrish-sounding 'Paradin' from Paratrooper + Paladin?
