Generation line 1 and generation line 2, Since i was collecting the toys I used the fiscal toy line as the generational timeline, g-1 actually should just be the 14 in the first year in 1985, but since the 2nd tier shown the 1st tier characters I skipped to what is the 2nd tier of toyline. I know what it means but I see it from the toy lines ( as a collector) instead of by the show line.

I was born in 1975. I was there for G1. It ended with the Action Masters here in the US. G2 didn't start until the early 90's. It's not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of fact. Use the internet to look it up if you don't believe us.

Ah, it's your terminology that's off. Those checklists are G1 years one and two. Fort Max was G1 years 4 and 5. The term g2 wasn't used until many years later.

Ok then, I wont apply my own "rules" to the lines in here! But help me. What Label (not sentence) could I use to say "Im only interested in the pre animated movie line"?

Agreed. I had one and got rid of it. It was just taking up too much space. It was like having a giant concrete block in my living room.

I've owned him on three different occasions as well. After the initial excitement over his novelty, it really just takes up too much unneeded space, IMO

G1 from 1984-85 would work. You actually said it yourself -- pre-1986. I know what you mean, though. The 1986 line started using non-Diaclone molds, and some of the all new toolings (like Rodimus) were radically different from the makeup of the '84 cars. Out of package, a person can be easily led to believe they're different lines altogether, if said person doesn't follow Transformers.

I rather like the pre-1986 releases. Thinner builds, diecast/chrome in all the right places, Diaclone driver seats, etc. Some post-86 toys just seem like huge bricks of plastic, with chunkier faces, thicker builds, "futuristic" alt. modes, etc. The pre-1986 toys are pretty much the only G1s I would display in alt. mode AND robot mode.

On topic: WOW! Fortress Maximus! If a third-party is what it takes to re-release this toy (safety tests be damned), then bring it on. The price tag is even heftier with the Highlord sword, but I'm not missing out on this one.

What if it's based on IDW Fortress Maximus, who's a regular sized transformer with some sort of tank alt mode?

Then as a Fortress/Grand/Brave Max owner I'd be interested as well, but not for $400. This has been a fun thread to read about Fortress Maximus not being G1! :lol

I'll never get this obsession with Fort Max. He's just a huge ugly brick that was pretty much was always in city mode when I was a kid. Way too big to play with when younger, way too ugly and cumbersome as a display model. I remember when I sold off my childhood G1 collection a few years ago Fort Max was the one everyone was wanking over.

    What gives?

Because it's the biggest brick out there man!! If I drive a regular 4x4 Big truck, there wil also be a lot of carlovers drooling, when I drive by. While, if I drive a mid-class car, nobody would care (exept maybe if it's a special brand), so size does matter ;)

Trypticon, Scoponok and Metroplex were far better toys, big for a 7 year old and fun to play with yet still pretty cool looking for display as an adult....I remember pretty much popping when I got him at Christmas as a kid it came at a time when my interest was waning and re-ignited the passion for a short while but as an adult collectable I really can't see it...even if he is the biggest.

I don't agree with the car analogy either. I see too big, too expensive (to run) and not practical.....actually.....that is my view on Fort Max!

Already have Brave Max with Cog upgrade set so this KO is kinda meaningless to me.
