Just saw this in the Transformers General thread on /toy/. Prototype pic of TF5 leader Optimus Prime. No idea where it came from, didn't see anything posted about it here, soooo here you go, merry Christmas and happy holidays! And if it did get posted here somewhere, well you know what to do admins. :)

Okay, this toy looks downright beefy. And are those two swords? No. Wait, nevermind, it's the lighting.

Holy cow, if that doesn't have any parts forming then I am amazed. Will definitely pick it up if it looks alright colored. Honestly looks spectacular- pulled a lil black magic, based on the blurry picture anyways.

Hopefully they'll finally make a regular deluxe Bumblebee that utilizes Nitro Bee's ankle solution- exposed wheels on these designs just feel super lazy at this point, outside of smaller figures.

This looks significantly better than the AOE figures.

Wew, looks like it's getting some ROTF Leader-level panel hiding. Can't wait to see what Takara will do with it.

Wew indeed. If it does have some crazy ROTF-Styled level of complexity, then color me impressed. Could easily be the best version of this version of the movie Optimus Design if they pull that off. Also the colors need to be accurate. Like it's not about covering the figure in paint, but more of using the right plastic color placements.

Well. It's a Leader Class figure. What do you expect?

Mmm, I got excited when from the thumbnail, it seemed like he had two swords, which would have been different, at least. But no, looking at it closer, it kinda looks like it\'s a sword and scabbard.

Or it's not an accessory at all and it's simply the lighting. I mean, it's still a color image, the background is simply grey with the figure itself.

Wow. I honestly can not believe this is supposedly an evolution over the original design. Those legs are skinny as hell! Where is the bulk suggesting the strength and durability of a goddamn semi truck?

Oh, right, the movies don't give a damn about the alt. mode actually being a part of the robot mode anymore. Glad I'm skipping the TF5 line if they're going to make this look even less like a Transformers line than fucking Action Masters did.

Well I mean, the legs are supposed to be skinny as part of the design. I agree in that I hate when the robot modes are not at all evocative of the vehicle modes, but when the toys pull off good incarnations of those designs, I absolutely love the engineering that goes into them, even if I'm not keen on the designs themselves. It's incredibly impressive. Not always elegant, but impressive in toy format.

Wow! I hope it's real. It kinda looks to good to be true, with the way the toys have been since DOTM. But if it is, it looks like a return to the good old crazy transformations that I loved.

I am astounded at how good that looks, honestly. Looks like the two-movie timeframe to get the design right paid off again just like with the ROTF Leader Prime. Except this design had to be even harder to work with.

Looking forward to a pretty, fully painted Japanese release somewhere down the line.

I can respect your opinion, but I honestly think it's wasted effort on designs I can simply not abide by. Doesn't matter to me how impressive a toy is with the engineering if the final product looks like something I consider garbage regardless.
