Pretty sure everyone is MP Dinobotted out these days, but all the sets released seem to homage the G1 toys rather than the cartoon. Tons of chrome everywhere, transparent pieces, etc. Maybe it's a minority opinion, but the Dinobots are one set I'd like to see done in a more cartoon-accurate paint scheme.

Takara, despite their penchant for cartoon look-alike accuracy on their more recent Masterpiece figures, has yet to release a set of dinobots with cartoon-accurate colorations. Meaning no chrome or shiny bits, and looking more like these guys that are painted with matte gunmetal and matte gray, muted light yellow, an off-white/matte silver, and deep reds and blues:

Do you think a third party company might step up to fill that void any time soon?

Maybe, though I'm not sure there is a market left to capitalize on.
The FT toon set are in line with the original masterpeice direction, taking the best bits of toon/toy etc to make the best figure, and GP are somewhat more toy centric and a bit stylized.

Most people who want a dinobot set by now will have jumped on one of the two I would have thought.

TT could do a set in the vein of their current super toon direction, but I wouldn't be replacing any of mine for that, especially given the scale they would be in they'd be big old plain bots.

I don't think anyone will make them.

I personally also would not want them. They really couldn't use "chrome" or "shiny" colors in the old 80's cartoon; but it was obvious they were drawing from inspiration from the toys (which were clear/gold/chrome).

That ugly off-yellow from the toon was probably their best attempt at recreation.

This is a factually incorrect assessment and is a big part of why you're likely going to see so very many people vote no on your poll here.

Molded details, chrome and a general premium look to the overall figures doesn't prevent them from being toon faithful, they have a lot of very specific nods to the animation. Heck FT's Sludge even has the goofy animation error eyes as a display option. And hybrid designs such as those used for FT's are exactly what the vast majority of collectors are after. And it seems most are very satisfied with what we have.

So embarking on yet more mp dinos would be rather pointless to essentially just get FT's figures, minus chrome. I don't see any reason a company should do this unless they want to lose a lot of money.

I'd be interested if they looked like this:

I'll take a cartoon version and I'll sell my FTs Dino's that I currently own to fund them. And oh yeah, I want a Sludge that looks like that in Dino mode, not what FTs did with their version.

No, the yellow just looks bad to me. Too bright and "kiddy". Chrome looks so much better.

I'm not a fan of the trend from the recent MPs, that tends to eschew metallics and chromes over flat whites and greys. It looks cheap. Yuck.

I said that before too but after getting MP Inferno and Red Alert + I really like them both. Red alert especially looks way better than the regular version I used to have, so glad I sold him in favor of the +.

Heh, I'm the opposite. I originally had the + on preorder, but ending up cancelling after seeing photos of it online, got the original instead. He's fine for me.

I'll take toon accurate versions of anything, even double-dipping if need be. Having said that, I don't see FT doing this to their existing molds so I voted for Takara, but who knows if/when TT would actually commit to doing the whole team.

I would love a more toon coloured set. I would also be happy with the FT figures had they not put the stupid "clear over chrome" on grimlock and sludge and kept it just shiny like the first releases.

Seems like if Takara made the dinobots MP style, thats what they would look like. Just basing this on the recent direction of the line following the movie and sunbow animation. Thats the only way I'd get them at this point.

Although I am not a fan of the direction of the MP line going all-toon, all the time, I'd buy Dinobots with yellow paint instead of gold chrome in a heartbeat.
I'm sure everyone who wants Dinobots has them by now, except me. I just don't want them with all the chrome. Without that toon yellow paint, they have never appealed tome. I'm waiting for this option, possibly forever.

I'm not a fan of gold chrome on MP dinobots as I think the "character" of the alt mode gets lost in a sea of bling. The perfect middle-ground is metallic gold, like on (metallic) Guttur. I've asked DalianJJ if FT would ever consider metallic repaints of their dinobots, but he said no. I think Takara would go full yellow.

Not sure the budget would allow it after having 4 FT Dinos and Reximus but there was a dude who bought a set from another dude on FB that had cutom colored his FT Dinos and MP8 using the toon colors and they looked magnificent.

I wouldn't buy them. Hell, the ugly yellow on the DX9 legends dinos is a big deterent from me getting them and those are significantly cheaper than the typical MP Dinobot price point.

To be honest I would love a set of toon accurate MP Dinobots,to me those clear bits the G1 Toys had were weird to say the least.I always liked the bright yell of the show characters. And if FansToys ever did a set of just those I wouldn't hesitate for an instant to get those.I kinda wish they had done those first, that's my opinion.

I felt the same way when I first saw FT Dino's but the deeper into the 3rd party scene I get the more they have become necessary to add to my collection, Grinder pretty much sealed the deal on it for me. So Stomp will be my first, then Grinder, Caesium, etc. Playing catch up is fun but expensive!!!

I'd consider them in a more classics style, but not MP.
