This year is the 24th anniversary of one of the coolest science fiction movies ever made and one of the 80s most rockin' genre movies thanks to Shout Factory who is doing that awesome Scream Factory blu-ray/DVD line-up as one of their first 9 released titles. I remembered seeing this in theaters when i was in second grade about 3 times and i thought it rocked as it became one of my favorite movies. I love that the film is a mix of sci-fi/action with political satire and anti-Reganism at the same time as this movie was giving Reagan the middle finger. Roddy Pipper with Keith David gave terrific performances here and this is one of John Carpenter's finest.
I have come to make posts and chew bubblegum... and I'm all out of gum-chewing emoticons. They Live is a great 80s action film, and a great example of that magical period where John Carpenter was churning out hit after hit. It's not surprising that it's a film that's had real impact on popular AND counterculture in the years since it's release.
loved the extended sunglasses fight! & the fact that WWE(WWF at the time) star Rowdy Roddy Peeper is in it & btw...it's out already..http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLU-RAY-T...t=UK_CDsDVDs_DVDs_DVDs_GL&hash=item2ec3101616 although...it's region A only(no region B or Free yet!)
I remember the ending when the aliens were revealed to the public. I always wanted to know what happen after that.
I admired the fact that, just as he did in "The Thing", the hero doesn't live happily ever after. that was kinda gutsy. great man-cave cinema.
