I've been noticing that a lot of the films marketing focuses on the recurring theme of trust and faith. There is a spot named Faith and a spot named Trust, which are the best ones out of the rest of the spots. Also we have seen the scene of Cade telling Prime to have faith in the Payoff trailers. Not really anything new or noteworthy, just felt like pointing it out. It seems to indicate a deeper emotional storyline.
I agree. I can already tell they are atleast going to attempt to have a moral/message to the movie, something that was lacking in the last two
The Prime character since DOTM had grown weary of humans due to their hunt, even though there is a part of him that still harbors sympathy for them. I think the character arc of Prime will focus on his restored faith in humans as he bonds with Cade throughout the movie. The last trilogy was about a boy and his car, this new start will be about a man and his truck (whatever that means).
I think that Prime just doesn't give a crap anymore. His home planet is gone along with most of his kind because he wanted to save the humans. they retaliate by killing what remains of his people and hunting him down. he just has no purpose anymore.
Faith, trust, all that good shit under the banner of "hope" is what it'll be about. Now let's just cross our fingers and "hope" they have something to say about it.
Also Cade doesn't really like the idea of Tessa dating Shane and in the tv spot he trusts him to take care of her when he's gone doing something like fighting Savoy or helping the Autobots.
Prime seems to me like he's at the end of the line, and he's this close to pointing the end of that fancy new shield of his at his head and pulling the trigger (side note, I'd REALLY like a scene similar to that in the movie. The level of emotional maturity to pull that off is astounding, but I've got faith in the filmmakers-this movie looks really good so far). I think the movie will focus on his journey to regain faith in himself, his teammates, and the species he vowed to protect. Cade's repair of Optimus appears to not only be physical, but metaphorical too. As others have said, this theme of placing your trust in others is prevalent in other aspects of the film as well. Cade has to trust Shane to guard Tessa, the Dinobots have to trust Optimus and save Earth...I kind of wish the Decepticons got their chance to have emotional story lines too. Though the Autobots are the ones getting all philosophical on us-the Decepticons are just there to be badass.
That's essentially one of the major themes of this movie as the characters have their own personal issues they need to deal with.
The line in that new spot "Why are you willing to help me?" and Cade's response, "Because you trust me to" really struck a cord with me. If nothing else, I hope we get to see this relationship develop strongly. I think I'll much prefer this to the Bee/Sam one mainly due to both being able to speak like normal people.
I have a feeling that this movie is going to be a lot more emotional and hopefully actually put some feeling in the Bay movies.
It's shaping up to be this, then again looks can be deceiving. I want to believe in Bay....just this once.
