he does.. I have to work in between so updates sometimes are a bit slow but he is getting along quite well. I will update soon if I find the right hinge to add the sides to his legs.
These may look odd, but they will save the build... Any guesses what they will become? -hint- think 3d and two parts..
I think they may help part of the body connect to the extra part in the back. Not sure but great work so far!
Well then.. here is the next step.. BACKPACK DONE! well kinda.. still needs paint and some monor improvements but... I restarted the whole thing "once more with feeling" and after some trial and error with the hinges, I now have a folding backpack! I will now focus on having everything peg in and become a sturdy shell but I am pleased with the results this far.
Putting him together with his Studio series Brothers shows exactly why I go trough all this trouble.. I am looking into ways to mount the rear wheels on him so they transform and are in the right location and then it is off to the paintbooth for him. I am so prowd of him.. look at how perfect he scales!!
TRIAL AND ERROR.... Well... Being an utter perfectionist can be straining on everything.. In the time between, I did cut of my new roof and started over. I noticed it was 9 mm to long and that will not do. It actually is not just one Ratchet I am building, there are two. (one for a fellow collector) so Now I have 4 roofs build for 2 cars.. Each roof takes about 8-9 hours to make.. so it has been some long days lately. I am still thinking on how to mount the wheels.. but thise are some pictures I tought you guys might like to see.. the backpack is quite compact and tight.. so I am happy and the transformation is the same. Now it will be the roofrack mounting and again.. on to the wheels...
And to motivate myself I put some bots together.. Studio Series Ratchet and my own Ratchet next to Studio Series Jazz.. this really is the reason why I build him.. take a look!
Thank you! he really is. Today I fixed the roofpieces to the legs and I need to see how I can atatch the rear wheels in a nice fashion and then it will be time to start filling and sanding the seams, prime the shell and get them painted.. I am so excited to see these guys come to live!
Still working on a way to atatch the wheels to the legs in a matter that works in both vehicle and robotmode.. it is difficult trough. As you can see the legs are transformed in another way to keep the underside of the car cleaner than original. the feet are hidden between the arms (Thanks @Matt Booker ) this does give the issue that if I mount the wheels directly on his legs now, they will be hideous in robotmode. they can not be mounted on the backpack since there is no place. ideally I would have them under the backpack since it is where Ratchet has them in the movies but I am a bit at a loss. That said, I did testfit the roofrack and DAMN!! that looks nice! If anyone has an idea on the wheels, I would love to hear ideas!
This is turning out fantastic!!!! Making me want one of these now everytime I keep looking at this!!! Keepnit up man!!!
Thank you! Well if you need help, I have some shells as leftovers They are dirtcheap trough, you can pick up a hftd ratchet for peanuts.
Yea I do have the same hftd white ratchet but haven't decided when I want to yet. Thanks man I might take one off your hands in the future!
