Hell these guys survived crashing into Earth's surface. I'm sure these weapons and upgrades, made from the same materials the Transformers themselves are made from, can survive a fall of 20 feet.
Maybe Que had performed drop tests when he engineered them   if they're used in combat then they're made to take quite a beating.

Well, I have my own issues with how DotM switched from built-in weapons to mechtech pulled out of hammerspace, but I won't go into that here.

However, I will say I really think it would have been cool if we had gotten a scene saying the trailer/flight pack was built from the Jetfire parts by WheeljacQue.

 

Well, the Jetfire thing requires you to consider three things: 1, the parts were damaged. 2, he only discarded the damaged parts, he left the actual body upgrade. He could've shed the torso armour and leg extensions, but he didn't. And 3, it was a fucking dead robot he didn't even know. I'd be quick to ditch it, too. That can't be hygenic.

As for his weapons, they're just weapons. It's not like he didn't retrive them. Besides, it was meant for emotional emphisis. He doesn't like to fight. Yeah, he's good at it, but not because he wants to be. Because he has to be. To survive. He does the same with Megatron's gun, he doesn't like having to do these things. People always crack he's a psycho or what have you, but the evidence shows the contrary. He's brutally efficient, but never is shown enjoying the fight. He's always somber afterwards.

As for his jetpack, he didn't really have time. It got hit, he was in a fight. He needed to kill a lot of 'Cons in a short amount of time, and on the ground the jetpack only slowed him down.

It's not like he has a shortage of them.

Besides, he keeps his blades in good condition.

 

Well, at the very end of ROTF, the body upgrade is completely gone. What did he do with it?

 

He ate it.

 

Well obviously he would've taken it off when he had a moment to do so properly. He didn't need it anymore. And as I said, it was a corpse. I'm sure Prime would prefer not to wear another dude's skin all the time.

Besides, it's power was probably exhausted and without the actual weaponry and bulk of it it likely offered little physical enhancement.

 

It comes from his trailer. He mentioned that "They got my trailer! I NEED that flight tech!" right before Que gave Sam the grapple glove and the boom sticks.

Prime might have gotten very,very physically and mentally fatigued after defeating The Fallen.... the last thing anyone in his shoes/feet would do would be slowly/gently removing his "upgrades" and ask Ratchet to "c'mere a moment" , both squating down pondering over with dialogue like "do you think this piece goes here? What bout the gasket there?".

 

You can see the power fade from the Energon blade after the first Shockwave battle just before he pitches it. Maybe it has a shelf life being made from inferior parts? Who knows. Good topic with some excellent comments being made. That's why I love this site, even though I don't participate much.

He shoulda kept the shield though.

 

Well i noticed it, he's a little mean with his weapons esspecially when he releases Jetfire body part

 

Yeah, this... how do we go from Prime having swords and hooks being a natural extention of his arms in TF1 and ROTF, to him having to "strap" them on in DOTM??

 

as for jetfire, primes spark couldnt take the energy drain of it, so he had to get it off, then nest picked it up andfixed it, plus added a new booster. ive heard that someware and i think its the best explanation

 

according to the comics the transformers use weapons like hair and nails, old ones can be used and removed while new ones will pop up, I think it was used in starscreams case in ROS

 

Optimus treats his weapons like he treats his soilders.

 

He still had built in swords. He uses them during his murder mile

 

But afterwards, during this fight with Sentinel, he has a hand-held sword and axe.

The way i saw it was after the driller scene he
threw down his weapons because he when't to
Examine the artifact, no reason to keep holding them
and we don't know if he went back and picked them up afterwards.

As for jetfire half of it was destroyed and took a beating
why would he keep it on? and to me it seem to be
falling off more then him taking it off, either way it was
probable heavy and he just got done fight the top decepticons
so he was probable low on energon so he took it off, and I doubt
jetfire would mind I mean he pulled out his own spark and told
Optimus to use his parts, and Optimus didn't even take all of it off
untill later. but thats my opinion
