Has anyone noticed that Optimus seems to have little regard for his weapons and upgrades? For example, in ROTF, after he's done defeating The Fallen, he carelessly releases the extra parts he got from Jetfire and allows them to fall to the ground. Also, in DOTM, after his first encounter with Shockwave and the Driller, he throws his sword and his shield to the ground. Then, in the final segment of Dark of the Moon, he releases his flight-tech from his body and carelessly allows it to drop to the ground. Why is this? Why is he so careless with his weapons and his upgrades? Also, maybe if he hadn't tossed his shield after confronting Shockwave and the Driller, he would have stood more of a chance with Sentinel.

I actually liked that aspect of him (although I'll still need to think more on the Jetfire parts). To me, it shows the disdain he has for fighting, and his own bloodthirsty nature. He doesn't take pride in what he does. When the fighting is over, it's over.

Regarding the Jetfire upgrade parts, they had suffered a fair amount of damage during the fight with the Fallen and Megatron. One of the thrusters was actually torn completely off, IIRC.

    Hmmm...

Well, it could be due to feeling some kind of strain from being encumbered by weight of all the extra modifications. Kind of a weak theory, but still.

I honestly can't say I noticed it too much in DOTM.

However, it did frustrate me in ROTF when he just shrugs off Jetfire's parts as if they were nothing.

"Yeah, you gave your life to give me these, and I only managed to defeat the Fallen/Megatron/Starscream and save the planet because of them, buuuuut... I'm done with them now kthnx." *drops without a second thought*

Perhaps it's me looking into things too much and being oversensitive, but I've always thought that he should've shown a lot more... Respect for Jetfire, after everything that happened.

As for the sequences you described in DOTM: discarding his flight pack, shield, etc... I don't know, perhaps he expects Bumblebee to be his squire of-sorts, going round the battlefield picking up after Prime :lol

Prime's a dick. He uses his weapons only once, then discards them with the expectation that more will be made for him.

You can't have disdain for fighting and be bloodthirsty at the same time.

I tried to say it in a nice way... But you pretty much summed up my innermost feelings there.

Demanding faces... Demanding weaponry... Demanding extra weaponry to take more faces after he lost the old ones...

Movie-Prime really doesn't seem to think things through very well.

For the Jet parts, they were pretty useless.
For the Sword and Guns, dunno
Regarding the flight tech that he so desperately needed, you have to admit, that was a pretty cool sequence.

The jet-pack came out of no where. We don't know how it was made, and we don't even see Optimus put it on!. Obvious toy-seller is obvious.

Ultimate Prime has the movie-accurate trailer, but japan has the movie accurate jetpack. Quite annoying.

I have heard that before, but it was not explained in the film.

I noticed it, and I like it. The Energon weapons I assume he'd just regenerate so he tossed the old ones aside. The others I just got the impression that he tossed away because he hates fighting and is only doing it because he feels there's no other choice. The stuff he really needs is in his trailer, which is why he was freaking out when he lost it when the Driller and Shockwave showed up.

the only thing that bothers me about movie prime is him not showing respect to jetfire i mean seriously he gave his own life to prime to beat the fallen and once hes done he just drops jetfires parts and probably got tossed into the ocean same with the rest of the dead autobots yea prime your so noble...

I think they made Jetfires parts into the trailer-pack.
