I had preorderd SW, and it was actually delivered to me. The preorder was not done during the initial window that was up too early and sold out.

So while I got the October email a few days ago it seems scourge is actually preparing to be shipped and is expected on Saturday. The rest of them haven't changed in status and claims to still be arriving today

What am I incorrect about? If the demand for Cosmos is shocking higher ups, that means it’s a success. That’s what they wanted and likely asked Hasbro to provide. A hot exclusive that would drive traffic into stores. If they underordered the figure, that’s irrelevant. They got what they wanted but didn’t understand what to do with it.

So, does that mean anything will be done about it? That's the big question...

You are wrong that they went "ooooo, cosmos! Get us that and lots of him!"

well my scourge is in the 'preparing' phase. scheduled to be in my hands on the 17th. looks like override was indeed delayed but the site hasn't updated it and still says i'll get it today...pressing X to doubt... guess it's a good thing i didn't up and cancel the order just yet. we'll see what happens. if i get scourge i'll cancel on pulse but hold override and see which override shows up first.

Read my post, I never said Walmart wanted Cosmos. They simply asked Hasbro to provide a hot item. Hasbro handed over Cosmos, Override and Scourge. Walmart was like, okay this better be popular. And when Cosmos blew up, Walmart knew that Hasbro had given them a winner.

It’s unlikely that Walmart is asking for anything specific. They just want something that’s popular. Hasbro came up with the whole Speedia gimmick and showcased two brand new molds as the headliners for the subline. Walmart signed off on it but has no clue how well it’ll do or not. They’re trusting Hasbro to make them something popular and Hasbro wants to keep Walmart happy.

Speedia was going to get two original molds. That was very likely a requirement set by Walmart. So if it wasn’t Cosmos and Override, it would have been something else. It could have been G1 Gears and Windbreaker.

Not to mince words, but since we have had it confirmed by the Hasbro team that both Cosmos and Override were originally intended to be remolds of Saucer Bee and SS86 Hot Rod respectively, I’m not sure the “2 original molds” was part of the initial plans.

I feel like it's being read into too much about how much Walmart dictates character selection to hasbro.

They don't care about cosmos, override, or any other character.

They sell what comes in the cases and that's it. Aftermarket value has nothing to do with Walmart.

I stand corrected. Although I doubt the Hasbro team would ever reveal the fine print on their exclusivity deals, I am curious how all of this developed.

The Netflix line had two moderately high retools and the Speedia line uses two brand new molds. How did Hasbro negotiate that with Walmart?

My assumption is that Hasbro understands brand new molds sell really well, so they gladly produced them to keep Walmart happy. But what convinced Hasbro to change things from retools into new molds. Hasbro loves to cut expenses after all.

If Walmart has that much control over characters why would they take the Buzzsaw, Nightprowler, and Sandstorm beast figures that are taking Arcee's place as the kings of the shelfwarmers?

Damn shame about that, as two of them look great to me.

Wal-Mart really over-ordered on those damn things though....
