Great price, but I just have no use for it... Between original and prior reissues, I probably have at least a dozen Hot Rods....
I'd probably rather have a backwards one... At least it would be something different for the collection!

I would definitely get me another if it were facing the right way, but there's no way to tell.

I order one at $19.97: front end of car.
    Couldn't open that!

Ordered a 2nd copy at $17.90: back end of car. :lol

For $14.97, I'm thinking of a 3rd copy! :D  At that price, I'm not really bothered with what I get. I just feel bad for folks who paid full price and got a backwards copy. Also scratching my head about why they spammed Hot Rod, and under-produced the rest.

Whatever happened to the minibots that never showed? :sly:  Wal-mart seems to have removed the online listings. If there was a set that would get spammed, you'd think it'd be the cheaper minibots.

If Rodimus hits $10 I’ll bite. Walmart’s here are still sitting on piles of them with the overhead storage clogged full too so he shouldn’t vanish at $15.

I ordered one at $17.90 and picked it up today, Hot Rod is facing the correct way.

For $3 less I'm not going to worry about a refund, BUT if it drops much more I certainly will! I hope this isn't a sign that the reissues are a flop and thus there won't be more.

I feel like the SS line is a flop, based on those Walmart prices - especially because most of them have not sold out, even at nearly 50% off!

The issue with the re-issue's, imo, is the pricing. Per usual. The hardcore collectors, nostalgics, and scalpers pay right away (no matter the price), but then there's this huge gap between what they paid and what casuals (and the curious) will pay. There is a happy medium: promo's to get some of these items for free (or at a reduced cost) when buying other items. Hasbro seldom bothers with promos anymore, which is why I seriously question their toy efforts. If the G1 line fails, I wouldn't blame it on a lack of interest, but rather on a lack of proper promotion and marketing.

As you might have expected. But when these first hit, Hound & Cog were $28, sold & shipped by Walmart!

Theyre not a flop, its Walmart trying to promote their website, notice no sale in stores.

So you're saying they did not sell well in stores and they're NOT a flop? :lol

Notice, Walmart only discounted certain toys (not all of them). And my point was that even at nearly 50% off, the SS line did not sell out. If you want to argue that Hasbro over-invested in that line, I would agree. It doesn't change the overall result, however: unsold merch that can't be unloaded at even crazy discounts!
What makes you say he was a best seller? What numbers constitute best-seller? It's all very vague, and we never get to actually chew the numbers. :banghead:

It doesn't change the messed up math: too many Hot Rods, not enough everything else. Whoops?

Discounting popular toylines at Christmas is not necessarily an indicator of poor sales.
