With so many 3rd party upgrade kits out there, I thought it would be a cool idea if we had a thread specifically for posting pictures and discussion of the upgrades we’ve bought for and applied to our Transformers. Upgrades can be 3D printed or injection-molded accessories, or even just ToyHax sticker upgrades. The Transformer itself should be an official Hasbro or TakaraTomy product. Switching weapons between figures doesn’t really count. Thanks to @Dachande for moving this to the 3P forum. Logical move.
The best sticker kit Toyxhax ever made IMO, is their Heatwave conversion kit. Because with a simple Titan Master adapter(which might count as an upgrade?) and a new faceplate, courteous of @Trentulas designs. You have the perfect chug Heatwave. So simple, so easy, so perfect.
Here are a few of my favorites... This new tail section from Matrix Workshop looks great, but isn’t the best quality. I had to coat it with Future to make it fit securely. Now it works great. This is perhaps my favorite upgrade set... ...which of course, is similar to this one, but with more added components... And who could forget FansProject's City Commander and Protector upgrade sets? And Nonnef's Wheeljack and Exhaust sets are fantastic.
Here's some pics I took of my upgraded Earthrise Optimus Prime. Got the toyhax reprolabels on both him and the trailer, painted the inner legs blue to match the rest of his leg, painted the inner face silver so his eyes pop more, and have the nonnef trailer kit installed. Will say if you get the trailer kit it will be a pain to install mostly the blue under wheel section but it is very much worth it and turns ER Prime into a mini MP44 in my opinion.
Some of the third party upgrade kits I've picked up: Rocket pack, new hands and energo axes for G1/Device Label Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus. Clip on heads for G1 Ironhide and Ratchet. New head and swords for Voyager Bludgeon. Several upgrade kits for the CW Constructicons including new guns, new hinged forearms for Long Haul, a new cab for Mixmaster and a new head with light up optics and retractable visor for Devestator. New faceplates for Titanmasters like Highbrow. New head for G1 Predaking allowing him to turn his head and with light up optics. Shapeways helmet for TR Galvatron.
