    At least for me, the most "serious" versions of the Air Military Team are also the most boring.

    I loved Armada Blurr as a kid, especially that head sculpt. Is that the Micron Legends version on the left?

    He's so cool aint he. Yeah, it's the Korean ML version that I'm pretty sure is the same as the Takara ones colours. I got lucky and scored an Armada one in good condition yesterday so I got to compare the two, quite a few little differences.

    I've got quite a few of the Korean versions. A lot of them are pretty much the same figures as the Japanese versions. Except, different, larger boxes. This includes most of their figures from BW to Cybertron. The only one I can think of that is actually different, would be Brave Maximus. Which is mostly the same, except I think some stickers/prints might be printed upside down on the figure. If I recall correctly. Other than that, they are exactly the same figures as the Japanese versions. Except, they're mostly cheaper. Which is why I've bought so many.

    Being that we're talking about an era of figures where the Japanese versions were definitively better than the Hasbro versions. And, not just because of accuracy, but, also because of better paint apps, better placement of paint apps, and better molding.

    Ignoring the shows, the Japanese versions just generally had a better use of color than the US counterparts. Which is why I own so many from the Japanese/Korean lines of BW through Cybertron era, instead of the American versions.

    That's good then, I wondered if the Korean versions may have been made with less quality plastic or something hence why they where cheaper. I haven't noticed a difference in qualiy myself either so it's reassuring and a nice way to get the paint jobs I prefer. I'd like to have Takara versions of all my Armada guys but I'm happy with the ones I do have.

    There are examples of Hasbro making more accurate paint apps though, it was rare but one example I know of is Cybertron Megatron being more accurate than Galaxy Force Master Megatron.

    Here's Sandstorm vs Cyclonus. I really like how bright Sandstorm's white is, I really wish Takara went with yellow instead of gold like they did with a lot of their other ML figs though.

    No, no, they have the same plastic quality. They're the same molds, made pretty much from the same factories. The only differences is the Korean boxes instead of the Japanese boxes. The reason why they're cheaper, is because they are less popular than the Japanese versions. And, in some cases, were released later.

    As for accuracy, it's not really something I pay a whole lot of attention to. And, the toys are going to be a toy-by-toy basis in terms of colors and what not. I do not have Cybertron/Galaxy Force Megatron to compare.

    But, I do have the Japanese version of Optimus. Who does have way more, better paint apps. The lights are painted, the key is painted. Something that many American versions lacked in the first waves.

    Japanese Jetfire has a whole row of lights painted along the wings, that just makes the figure pop. The Japanese version of Wing Saber has the shinny chrome yellow on it's chest, and chrome swords. Again, which really makes the figure pop.

    It's the tiny little details that make these figures superior. Whether or not they are accurate to the show, they're still superior. All because of the little details that they painted in. Or, like you've shown with Blurr, painted better.

    Serendipitously, it turns out the Japanese version of the Dark Saber goes well with Rodimus Unicronus.

    Personally, I think he needs a space guitar, not a sword.

    Just two quick pics I took for someone in a group I'm part of;

    A group shot of - Micron Legend Rampage, Armada Wheeljack, Unreleased Universe Drench and BotCon SG Sideswipe, and their respective MiniCons.
    My Drench has an unpainted face, but the eyes are painted.
