The Doomlock sword goes even better with Energon Mirage! Mirage is my personal favorite of the line.

 

Superlink Decepticons go hard. One of my most enjoyable collecting journeys getting them all. (Though I’m missing Hasbro’s gorgeous Galvatron and several Terrorcons)

The Autobots rock too, especially the larger ones like Bulkhead and Landmine.

 

I think that Energon Autobots would be remembered very differently if the toyline didn't have without Energon Hotshot, Jetfire and STD Grand Convoy. Without those 3 molds, the average goes up quite a bit.

 

Energon got known for its terrible show somehow, but oh man that toyline is probably my favorite of all time. MP Energon Starscream when?

 

Wait, what's wrong with Jetfire? He's pretty solid. I always wanted his Overcast redeco.

I mean, it's not really "somehow," it was until the Machinima/Netflix series considered the worst Transformers show ever.  

 

I just mean to say that the toyline was such a gem it's a shame people focus on the dumpster fire of a show.

 

This is all true. And whats sad is that Energon(show) had potential and started out strong… but then it just devolved into fucking wacky races.


Like, what even was that shows budget to be able to have so many pointless episodes? Could you imagine the stories that could have been told?

Yeah, it is a shame. If the show was at least decent I think Energon would be fondly remembered. The toys and designs were honestly some of the best of the UT. The detail and design choices were really good.

Yeah that's it. I think that looks way better than the maroon original. The white and dark blue go great.

 

I like Energon Jetfire's design.
A couple of flaws are his upper arms being short.
The floating neck piece sat on the combiner port can be a little distracting and that the head is a solid part of it kind of hurts an otherwise cool looking head sculpt. I can interpret that panel with the head on as robotic traps I suppose but I think the show character model with the fixed neck and proportions looks better and more like his old Armada self of course.

I had the Energon version back when it was first released and never liked that maroon. Now I have the Superlink version. There's hardly any brown mixed in, it's the faintest kind of maroon and I much prefer and the translucent red over orange parts.
I'm on the look out for Skyfire Sonic or Overcast, those decos are superior. Overcast has a blue head crest and Sonic doesn't I'm noticing thanks to that pic above. I like the shade of red Takara used over Hasbro's though. Takara's faceplate looks more distinct from the visor and his eyes are visible, Overcast's face looks like a blur

Also Jetfire makes awesome looking lower legs and 'grants the ability to fly' to CJ and Ironhide, who both make nice looking upper bots. Beachcomber+Overcast is the best combiner of that deluxe and voyager style IMO, it's a shame Beachcomber is so rare.
