Armada Hot Shot and Micron Legend Hot Rod are a bit different. Did you review all four of them?
Review focused on Micron Hot rod you see in the thumbnail, but he does go over a couple differences between the molds like the new head, and regional like the better painted autobot logo for Takara's release
The video is like 10 minutes if you want to find out.
I was thinking about the various super modes prime has had over the years (and how they've gotten progressively less interesting) and it occurred to me that Megatron has never really had one. Sure, he's combined with other guys in Armada and Cybertron, but he never has a powered up mode of his own. The closest thing probably being Armada Megatron's full blast mode. And sure you could argue he doesn't really need it, since he's already supposed to be bigger and stronger than Prime, but it never seems like Prime really needs it to go against him? Like Megatron, although more powerful and bigger than Prime, isn't so much more that Prime needs an entire mode to fight him. I think that if they're going to be giving Prime a super mode they need to make Megatron more intimidating and powerful as an individual, with or without a super mode of his own (although that would be cool, I think the time where it could have properly happened has long since passed.)
Optimus comes with a trailer. Optimus' super mode in general is combining with its trailer. RID was a subversion, the normal robot was not an independent alt mode by itself.
Gun Megatron could combine with the gun accessories, why not. But as a tank or plane, it would depend on a second character.
Energon had the hyper modes across all Decepticons and Megatron has no need to have LESS guns that's stupid. Full send 24/7, only scrubs have weaker robot modes.
That's fair, but he also scarcely gets those as well. And the ones he gets are never as good as Primes, either. Aesthetically or otherwise.
Hyper modes are not super modes, and I don't necessarily think Megatron should have a super mode, I just think he needs to be bigger and more imposing so Prime having one seems more justified.
When you post videos you should specify that they are awesome. Thanks, it was great content.
Aw, thank you - that's very kind. I do plan on doing a lot more UT vids. I have the Micron Legend Magna Convoy DX Set that I'm itching to do at some point!
They did make an effort to show us that Optimus isn't dependant on his super modes to match his opponents at a few crucial moments. The biggest example of that is Armadas Mortal Combat but it happens again late in Energon. Galaxy Convoy however, super mode junky!
Megatron is usually the aggressor and displays powers that you think would beat Prime in the UT. He's bigger and has supernatural abilities even for a Transformer in 2 of the series you're right. If Megatron doesn't have one too and is presented as 'naturally' more threating and then towards the end we have the twist of Optiums not needing his super mode in a crunch. Heroic story.
It is a good dynamic, I'm basically just saying, in far too many words, that Megatron should be even more impressive if Optimus gets a super mode.
I noticed that you have the Magna Convoy DX set-- would you be willing to take some pictures?
Yeah I will do a vid of it at some point, for sure. For now, how's this?
Much appreciated, thank you!
Man that set is beautiful and tempting, but I'm in a position where I want to have 4 more copies of this mold that I already have and I feel like cutting what will probably be the most expensive version is the rational decision.
Anyone got pictures of that black, red, and yellow version of Armada Optimus that was released in Energon?
That looks cool and expensive.
