Hello, I live in Newcastle. Unfortunately its not great with toys. There's a forbidden planet which has a poor selection, mostly limited to earlier generations figures. Apart from that there is a Smyths about 20 minute from the city centre in somewhere called Wallsend, another Smyths across the Tyne in gatehead, and lastly a Toys R Us and Entertainer at the Metro Centre.

so much better, Hasbro gave him a full big bushy beard as opposed to tache and goatee and there is just so much detail unpainted it couldn't go untouched while the paint was out

That's true to a point. But say one partner's toy buying habit was getting out of control and risking a couple's joint financial security - the other party would then absolutely be entitled to voice concerns and object. The same can be applied to any kind of spending habit, of course, on either side of the relationship.

What does bother me is when the objection is due to the nature of the interest - objecting simply because they are 'toys' and are therefore deemed 'daft' or 'immature' or whatever. Toys may be 'silly' for one person but then 'beer' or 'fags' or 'shoes' can seem daft to another not interested in those things.

My wife sees my collecting as my vice and as I don't go out drinking, unlike my brother in law who does, she doesn't mind. (Plus as me missus says "at least your transformers are worth something, and your not drinking your money away".)

Oh, and what about the packaging? My wife can't say sh*t as she keeps all her boxes for her tatty teddy figurines:p

Pretty much agree. I don't think it's necessarily fair to simply expect the other person to put up with the hobby regardless - I think the trust and understanding has to be earned by trying to find the right balance. It's also a question of what other priorities are going on, in terms of commitments, finances etc. It's pretty easy for this hobby of ours to take over, after all.

Hey man sorry for the blunder but you mean tix for Saturday only is sold out or all lfcc 3 days are sold out as of Saturday? Can we purchase tix on the day itself?

Tickets for All Weekend are sold out, tickets for Saturday are sold out, which means you can't buy a ticket at the door on Saturday.

But you can purchase door tickets on Friday and Sunday, well only if they don't sell out.

Speaking of LFCC, I'm going on Sunday, I have a couple of friends already going plus I'm going with my family (potential crowd suicide?) so we'll see how it goes!

That's how I view my robots. I work hard to pay for a nice house, the bills and I have an allowance each month, which I can spend on what I want. The only rule is they stay in "the office".

The missus knows if I had to sell them I would, and have done in the past to pay for holidays and baby stuff where needed.
But she point blank refuses to buy me any. Ever!

If anyone has bought tickets for AA can they do me a favour and see if any rooms are left at the Hilton for Saturday night before I book my ticket?

Is dumping her out of the question? I'm not being facetious, if I had a gf who was trying to tell me what to do with my money or hobbies I'd be pretty zero tolerance on it. If someone loves you and you are not hurting anyone then why would your hobbies be an issue for her? Surely she would be happy that you are happy? I wouldn't even try placate her by saying they will be worth something one day. Shouldn't matter if they are monetarily worthless as long as they make you happy and aren't going to make you homeless and bankrupt.

After talking myself out of the Planet X Genesis on ebay I decided to pull the trigger on one from Robot Kingdom.

Got the LED kit and the second head tank with it.

Sent Thursday, already sitting at the post office for me to collect tomorrow. Sailed through customs as it was marked down as $20 (actually $360!).

Unless I open the box and it turns out to be Gwyneth Paltrow's head I'm totally amazed by how fast and smooth this was, had nothing but customs bummage using RK in the past

    Friggin' MyHermes.
For the second time since they've been handed the UK distribution for Amazon US orders by i-Parcel I have had an apparently fraudulent notice of a first attempted delivery (I was at home eating my lunch in the dining room at the time the supposed 'attempt' was made, well within earshot of our frankly ear-shattering doorbell, no delivery card was left *again*) and now the tracking says that the 're-scheduled' delivery attempt is 'carried forward' which I can only assume means the delivery I stayed in for today will happen tomorrow, when I have to go out.
Not wanting to sound all, 'I wants mai Toyz NOAW!' because I don't mind waiting a bit longer to get my stuff but it hacks me off that it appears someone is gaming their delivery stats at my expense (in the form of my time which could have been spent elsewhere).
