ZOMG. Some of those prices are shocking. If it wasn't for AA tomorrow... in fact thats probably why they're going cheap, everyones saving their money for this weekend.

I'm even to have a couple of toys in the car tomorrow, Leader Jetfire and Flip N Change Lockdown will definitely be in there.

Local tip : 5 minutes down the Coventry Road heading towards Brum is the wheatsheaf - There is a store called Michaels Drinks, they sell alcohol dirt cheap.

Bonus points if the bearded lady is still alive AND she serves you. :thumb

I am in mid-Berkshire No Robots Hell.

I have attached Blue Terrorsaur to my button-hole (not what you are thinking) so I don't have to have a fucking orchid there tomorrow and I'm getting shit about using Last Exit For The Lost as the wedding march. There is a TRU down the road but it's Reading so it'll be shit. All the women look like buffalo (or at least look they've consumed a few in their time) and the booze is expensive.

I don't in any way envy those of you enjoying refined TF based converse and buying stuff I would want. Not at all. Bastards.

Overdraft be damned, expensive booze it is.

I remember so little of them, it is the aftermath that is seared into my eyeballs.

£4.70?!?!?!! It is like a section of London has been transported to Brum!

So yeah, caught Guardians today. Great movie, seeing it again sunday which I'm looking forward to as I got really shit seats today, meaning I had to spend the film looking up at the screen which wasn't comfortable. At the moment, it's easily one of my favourite Marvel movies but I don't think it tops Cap 2. We'll see after a second viewing.

Now what I want to know is why the hell there isn't more discussion about Planet of the Apes 2 and how amazingly awesome it is? Seriously, I've not been so spellbound by a film in a long, long time. The CG on the apes is near photorealistic, but that's not what makes it; Its the subtlety and nuance in the performances that just had me shaking my head in utter disbelief. The tension had me on the edge of my seat and there's no slacking in the action department either.

Seriously, go and see this film before it leaves the cinema.

Guardians was amazing yeah, though I'll have to see Cap 2 again to compare, I remember that being great too. Apes was cool, I loved how there was no clear cut heroes or villains. It easily could've just done the old "the apes are evil" thing, but Gary Oldman and the bad ape (forgot its name) were just as fucked up as eachother and main dude (forgot his name) and Ceaser were both just looking for an end to the killing.

Quick science question since I don't know shit about apes, If Apes had human level intelligence would they be able to talk like in Planet of the Apes, or do they have the wrong vocal chords and would still be mute? They do this whole sign language thing in Dawn, but two of the apes can speak basic english.

    Hey guys,

I must admit I'm looking forward to tomorrow enormously. Is it enough to leave around 10pm or is staying the night essential for the full AA experience? I stayed over in 2006 and didn't really feel there was a need to but I didn't know as many people there as I will this year.

If anyone wants to come and say hello I will be arriving with Kit, Steve and Swoop but will go straight to Paul Hitchens's Spacebridge stall and be helping out there for about a couple hours and then I'll be free to roam, get some comic stuff signed and generally be a punter at a TF show - instead of behind a dealer's table - for the first time since 2001.

Oh for those not attending AA but want some cheap toys to fill a void, I will be selling:

    - Classics/Generations Red Alert + instructions, just car, no parts, £8 delivered
    - Animated Activators Prime + instructions, £8 delivered
    - ROTF Dirge + instructions, only 1 missile included, £6 delivered
    - 2007 Movie Salvage, no parts, £6.50 delivered
    - ROTF Strike Mission Sideswipe with instructions, £10 delivered (some spots of paint wear and small scratches on roof paint and on silver body paint)
    - Animated deluxe Megatron, no parts, and TF Prime McDonalds Megs with no parts, free with any above purchase (first come first served!)
    - Movie 2007 Wreckage no parts and one side flap missing - all £3 with any above purchase

Or, take it all for £30 delivered :thumb

I also received a Beast Hunters Wheeljack and a Takara Animated Shockwave. Wheeljack is bizarre but fun (actually not as sweet to transform as normal Prime Jack) and the TakTom Ani Shockwave is delightful, Tight joints no floppy, and sparkly metallic purple plastic on the legs, shoulders and chest. Wow, beautiful.

Does anyone know what Lena is like for refunds or replacements/customer service? One of the SDCC Ratbats I got (for a mate!) is missing its innards, so all I have is the shell of the keytar and the Ratbat head, no legs on torso basically.

    All the best
    Maz

Yet to see Guardians, really want to though. Have to agree Dawn of The Planet of The Apes is a truly awesome film. What a performance from the legend that is Andy Serkis and also the guy that plays Koba. That and Cap 2 are hard to split for me in terms of film of the year so far.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing something that said that apes indeed don't have the vocal chords to be able to talk, but shhhh, you spoil the magic ;) .

And yeah, I liked the overall message of good and bad. You get good apes and bad apes, you get good humans, you get bad, and it's an analogue that can be applied to any corner of real world society.

    Please people. See this movie.

Motorthing, great choice with Last Exit For the Lost.

A large percentage of his stuff is like that and if you can get a reply to emails or a refund then you've done better than me.

Lena sells stolen factory rejects if I recall, so all his stock should in theory have some massive QC error, it does come out of the reject bin after all. I think getting problems like this is kind of a lottery with Lena, so I doubt he'd do much about it. You get what you're given in other words. I could be wrong and he might help, but don't hold your breath is all I'm saying.

Yeah, I'm torn between the two as well, but I think Apes just edges Cap 2 out as my champion for the year. Fortunately, they're very different films and can be enjoyed for different reasons.

But yeah, Koba. Whoever plays him really gives Serkis a run for his money. I just hope they do another "prequel" movie before they go for a remake proper.

Dawn is a brilliant film. As you say Broot there's an unnerving feeling of it all kicking off horribly virtually all the way through.

Me and Lady Napalm were chatting for ages about it afterwards, which is rare cos I usually just act like a wanker and ruin the night.

Toby Kebbell plays Koba. He's Paddy Considine's brother in Dead Man's Shoes, an absolute blinder of a film.

I think I heard the apes prequels are intended to be a trilogy, so we should get another. We do still need to find out how the apes finally took control and enslaved the humans, so theres still alot of room left for another prequel to lead into the original (or an obligatory remake).
