Calling @Hobart Paving - what face does the Fortress KO have in bot mode? Faceplate or mouth? If it's faceplate I might pick one up for the MTMTE/LL shelf.

It’s the mouth - I assume you’d need Cerebros (whoever that is) for the faceplate.

Or maybe the Spike that comes with Legends Bumblebee? Does that Headmaster have a faceplate?

[EDIT: Apparently 'Excelsuit Spike' does indeed have a faceplate...]

The Spike Titan Master included with Takara Legends Bumblebee is based on the US character model for Cerebros:

Thanks @Hobart Paving and @Contrail - so I might still be able to assemble a reasonably-priced Cerebros without having to buy the whole Fort Max, that's worth a look :)

I've been thinking about tracking down a spare Titans Return Perceptor, and using it as a base for a custom Cerebros

Many thanks to the forum's search function I managed to find a couple of old threads I made for it way back in 2008, was using enamels painted by brush back then, how things change

It never occurred to me that the failure of those £119 robot primals would piss off retailers until I read recent posts. Hell, smyths put it on a catalogue cover iirc. £15 each and they're still hogging shelves? I could see smyths and others being even more wary about stocking big transformers.

    I do love Magmatron's head.

This prehistoric prick not only looks like he's about to refuse your mortage application down at the bank but his Quetzalcoatlus alt mode also makes for an unpronounceable power play in popular board game Scrabble.

At this point if Bumblebee showed up looking like a shaver nobody would think twice!

Parcel from @LeAwesome1 arrived with this dapper chap in it. I’m particularly fond of his winklepickers.

Also had Refraktor/Viewfinder/Reflector arrive. Siege toys just feel different. I don’t want to say ‘better’, but… they’re better. :)

This could be a point but the world of retail can be quite sneaky.....

Option one, they could have been bought in as specials for an upcoming sale, in which case at large discount, and any few actually sold at the legal 2 weeks of full price shelving would just be a bonus, but the plan was always to slash the price in the sale as an incentive to get people into store and look for other bargains.

Option two, even at the lower price they stall, and Hasbro want to move ROTB through in preparation for the next big thing, so they offer discounts on any held stock so they can be sold even cheaper without Smyths taking a hit (these did reduce very quickly).

Either way yeah it could be a faff/annoyance for Smyths, but it's probably not a major financial issue.

This oh too sensible story requires a picture.
