I think I know the answer to this, but I have a question for the group…

I preordered a Motormaster from Sonner Toys during one of their sale events a while ago. I also preordered Blitzwing around the same time. The website said that Blitzwing had a 1/10 ETA, well it is now 20/10 and there has been no news about him arriving, in fact the website says “Overdue and awaiting an updated stock arrival date to our warehouse from our supplier.”

Blitzwing turning up would be nice, but I’m not too fussed about.

Now, Motormaster is another matter, I had a G1 Menasor as a kid (my only combiner) and he was also the first CW combiner I completed through a trip to the US to see my brother about 4 years ago. As a result I really want to get my hands on him. Sonner has a release date of 1/12/22.

So what does anyone think? Wait for Sonner or order one from Smyths now they have dropped the price a bit?

 

I think that with the reputation sonner has, I’d buy elsewhere, others may be able to verify what sonner refunds are like, but I’d be asking for a refund on your pre order

 

Normally I'd tell you to just get your money back because Sonner are terrible, but Amazon are still waiting on Blitzwing and MM! I'd probably grab Blitzwing from Smyths if there's lower numbers and wait on MM to do the same.

 

Damn, she is really making me rethink my choice on my next expensive bot purchase...her or the KO FT Thomas...tough choice

Suggests to me the factory is using low grade plastic and Hasbro obviously know that, but will never admit to it because lawsuit and refunds.

 

I need the likes of Granny Gross. I could actually see them doing the Universal Monsters since those have been licenced to hell recently.

Not for me, I've got the Diamond Select ones and Hasbro can't do faces for shit.

 

This strongly suggests that some protocol changes occurred leading to the ongoing issues affecting certain batches, whether it was UV treatment, cleaning compounds, etc. This degradation has happened enough across different waves to be noticeable, and yet it’s not affecting every toy equally. I think this adds credence to some operational change at a factory level caused the discolouration we are seeing, perhaps a cleaning agent mixed improperly, a UV treatment or similar additional process.

It’s not been impacting other manufacturers to my knowledge, nobody else seems to be suffering with this particular issue to the extent specific plastic mixes are with Hasbro. I don’t think they are going to admit to errors or liability but they really don’t want a massive Haslab project being regarded as a failure in waiting so I think it’s going to be quite an interesting few months

 

Seeing as Sonner removed all transformers (and most other hasbro) preorders from their site in one go a few months ago, and the only TF they've received since then is core Spike, its pretty certain they have zero relationship with Hasbro or any hasbro supplier, and none of these preorders are actually expected to be fulfilled. Im sure they could try to obtain stock, but how hard do you think they are gonna try to get hold of Motormasters to fulfil £50 presales?

No, those transformers are not coming, and you ought to cancel them and certainly dont let them run over the 6 months buyer protection period (assuming paypal use). They only issue you may have with refunds (other than them taking ages to respond and process refunds) is that they will take a fee (15% i think) unless the item is over 3 months late. So you may have to argue the fact or claim through your payment provider to get a full refund.

Also you should defo get MM if you are interested. Hes not shelfwarming like Rodimus did, as hes actually worth commander price, so unlikely he'll ever hit £50/£60 like Roddy has. You can get him for £85 from GNT (who have almost as bad a rep as Sonner! but he's atually in stock there) but id say worth the extra £5 with Smyths for easier resolution in case of any issues.
