I just feel Mos Deff and Martin Freeman were a very poor Ford and Arthur, Moss’s Ford just seemed stoned whilst I prefer the previous portrayals as alien but still with energy, Freeman’s Arthur Dent just seemed baffled and missing the English outright pissed off with everything needed for the character, yes the universe is a baffling place but it is also incredibly annoying (see the Nutrimatic drinks dispenser: “If you have enjoyed this drink, why not share it with your friends?”

“Because I want to keep them!”)

Though I have read the books thrice, I have never seen the previous portrayal (or any other portrayal) until today.

I genuinely enjoyed it all and did not find anything egregiously amiss with Messers Def & Freeman’s interpretations.. Rockwell and Deschanel also good.

For me the best part of the books was Adams’ humour and imagination and they are both on display here.

I strongly suggest you check out the original radio series at least once - well worth a listen.

Seconding @Rodentus prime on recommending that @IrnBro check out the Hitchhikers Guide radio plays. Excellent work. Hearing, rather than just reading about, the robot choir of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation complaints department was a highlight of my youthful media consumption :)

The movie didn't completely work for me, I too missed the angrier Arthur Dent - although was he just angry, or could he also be read as entitled and a bit posh? And if that's one possible reading, maybe that's why he was changed for the big screen :)

I cheered at about half an hour in, when they unexpectedly brought in the One True Title Music.

I have noticed , from ppl here and also perusing other internet opinions, that those who had a more formative experience with the radio series tended to be disappointed with the movie.

perhaps the nature of a radio series demands slightly more animated characters , whereas a movie fleshes out its medium in other ways .. hence criticisms of it being flat , stoned, not angry enough , etc

    Sorry (read not sorry) ;)

Dead keen to see him in hand, he looks awesome in @Imperator and @Napalm pics. Do you think he will arrive ahead of our next meet up?? You’ll have to bring him along to the boozer if he arrives in time!

I haven’t bought anything in 10 days and I’m not expecting anything.

Hopefully can watch new Cyberverse today and there should be a reveal of W5 of S7 Thundercats (though the teaser of evil Lion-O doesn’t fill me with excitement).

There’s a BBTS exclusive of undercover Raphael so I wonder whether a ghost Jaga could also be an exclusive.

Managed to open one of the jets from mr @Napalm this morning. Surprisingly good chonk to it, seems unfair to just brand it as an OSKO CW figure… and some nice light piping as a bonus too.

Just feel they lack a little ‘zing’ - do any of you fine folks who have Toyhax expertise know if any of the 3P or the CW sticker sets would fit/do a job on these? Just feel I need something to make them pop a bit more.

    Morning all! Birthday haul.

    IMG_E9668[1].JPG

Thanks to @CZ Hazard, Comics & Cocktails' sale, and the Almighty Kapow. Stashed all these in a wardrobe awaiting today. Not drunk yet but the clock ticks and out in the pubs and offies, the drink sits. Waiting.

@Seeaich am very tickled indeed that I get to share such a cool homage with He-Man and the Beast Wars Neo Dinos, who are some of my fave Dinos, really makes me grin. :D  Also on Halloween 1999 I was out at an unholy hour bouncing around in the Best Club in the World, where I met the chap who was an editor at Target back in the days of our youth and who wrote the copy on the backs of many of those Who books. Now he's one of my closest friends and is also about to be drinking, because I know which part of Soho he'll be in at any given time...sort of like an alcoholic Tom Bombadil, but looking more like a bohemian Ford Prefect.

    Anyhoo. DEIGH WOTCH!

Professor X enjoyed his holiday job, fixing exhaust ports on alien space stations.

Thanks muchly! Wonder what Skeletor and Evil-Lyn are giggling about. Masterverse figs definitely p.neat. Really hope subsquent waves aren't a total pain to get here. Am after that Fisto, Stinkor, Classic-style Teela and Orko, at the very least. Probably PopeClops and Cult-Jaw as well. :)
