Unicron Trilogy made good money. Armada in particular was very, very, very successful. Hasbro and Takara were caught off guard by the high sales and the huge amounts or revenue generated. It directly opened the door to conversations with Spielberg and Bay for a movie.

I've tried to find links online but I've heard Aaron Archer talk about it in person on multiple occasions.

There is a fairly recent podcast/ YT series called The Toy Armada with Archer, I'm looking forward to the Armada episode particularly but it's a decent show and worth a listen.

 

I have seen Armada was recorded as generating double digit growth, but that was up against some of the very worst ever sales performances in prior years. I’ll have a look for that podcast though, as I’ve also seen it way over performed expectations, so I’d love to know it’s exact performance. I can’t see anything where they made 100 plus million, but I’m totally seeing how the UT certainly helped relaunch Transformers, it hooked me back in, and while I’ve never seen it described as being the specific driver for live action movies I’m happy to be wrong

Pin removal - I use a thin pin punch tool, a small light weight hammer and large lump of blu-tak! I remove as many parts as I can then press the pin joint into the blu-tak, line the punch tool up with the pin and softly hammer the pin through until it starts to slide out of the joint.

So TIL that when you use one of the Transformers captains as the commander of your ship in World of Warships: Legacy, the in game music changes to the incidental music from the G1 cartoon.  

That must have been added recently, as I can't believe I never noticed it before.

 

Rewatching TLK and honestly, if people could stop mumbling it would be actually hilarious!

Our big question though: did anyone, Hasbro or third party, do life size “puppy dinobots” because they would be awesome!

I haven’t finished the new MOTU yet - I probably will today - but I’m assuming Trapjaw looks fuck all like that until quite late on. The head ruins the rest of the figure design for me. Oh, also tempted by Man At Arms too, thinking on. We’ll see how he is in hand first.

Quick question for the hive mind - is there a 3rd party Bumper head in production that would fit the ER Cliff/Bee mold?
I haven't been able to find anything online, but would be surprised if no-one has thought to make one.
I don't usually do upgrade kits (a rabbit hole I try to avoid), so not sure of the right places to look

 

 

Yeah, TJ gets that look a good bit later. I don't really get on with the new looks except for... can't mention that, actually! The TJ figure falls over with the weight of the gun, seemingly. Pixel Dan has a review of MAA.

Beast Machines really didn’t do too well, the show alienated a lot of the fans of Beast Wars and G1 fans wanted nothing to do with it.

I do wonder how well RID did as a filler line or how well Armada did compared to year 1 of BW which revitalised the brand

 

Many Moons ago Venksta/Renderform did a Bumper kit for the Deluxe CHUG 'Bee bod (so the size would be about right but I dunno about the actual fitting) but he does seem to be out of the game and you'll probably be lucky to track one (or a pre-re-headed 'Bee) down at this point. Beelzeboss did their Devil Horns for both Yellow & Red Cliffjumpers but didn't bother with Bumper IIRC.
Found a US ebay listing Renderform Bump Scout but it'd be an expensive experiment!
