Decided to pre-order Megs with ID. I'm not gonna bother with pre-ordering Warpath as the more I look at it the more I prefer my generations one. Might pick it up at retail.

Hopefully high, the universe legends class figures are what I collected as a child (and again as an adult) and they were always such great and affordable fun for a pocket money toy, hopefully some kids can have that same experience I did  

 

So ID aren't doing deposit pre-orders on the Prime reissues because they're due early October, but the Pulse site says January. Could we be getting something before the US?

 

This gives me life. I am loving the 'realistic but fuck off, this is a toy' direction they have taken the beasts in.

The combination of cartoon-like bot modes (especially the head sculpts) with more realistic beast modes is absolutely perfect. I couldn't be happier and I can't wait to get my hands on them.

Never been a huge fan of the Beast stuff (I think the biological skin over a robot frame comes a little too close to Giger biomechanoids for me not to feel a little squicky about them) BUT this lot really do look rather nice...

Popped to my local Smyths today, planning on getting a Quint Judge and a second Allicon, but they were all out, so I ended up with Airwave, and Arcee.

I didn’t at all intend to get Arcee - I’ve got Lifeline coming, and really wasn’t very keen on the whole backpack/hoverboard situation, plus the pictures didn’t look great.... then I saw her face-to-face and *something* about it just works.

Possibly semi-useful trick with this is that if you remove the pin holding the backpack on, you can get both Arcee and alt-mode together. She still folds up and clips in under the shell, and on mine the joint is just tight enough to attach the backpack if needed.

Well, these reveals look tasty.

Ones that don't grab me so far based on images -
Cyclonus - don't like the face
Blacka-RACK-nia - feel like they could have deviated from the show model for obvious reasons
Warpath - looks like a poorly drawn animation episode. Old generations one is so much better.

Don't really need another Ultra Magnus but I guess some people probably want an Earth Mode one. Having said that the shoulders on mine are feeling a tad loose and the legs a bit loose so maybe I'd upgrade if it's better.

The fossilizers remind me of Skeleton Warriors. Jury is out.

I think eventually I may end up getting the 'core' cast of Maximals (and inevitable Tigatron obvs), and maybe Megatron. Was never as fussed on the Predacon designs.

 

Kingdom figures look great but I'm not going to start buying beasties so just Warpath and Cyclonus for me, can't be arsed to preorder a whopping two figures though.

Bummer to hear that gears didn't make the cut, they could have just removed him from the picture in that case.

Galvatron looks great in that poster, I really hope the toy looks just like that.
The ark Titan looks pretty good too, could well be interested in that.
Tracks and Magnus look quite similar to the masterpieces.
Huffer and Inferno are just as you'd expect them.

Going to be a much cheaper year for me next year.  

 

I made a promise to myself that due to moving into a new house (with smaller display space), next year will be my last “full wave” collecting.

What a year to end on! 100% of wave one preordered (with an extra vertebreak) and eagerly wanting more!

Most definitely *not* looking forward to ID crashing like the R-101 on Monday though....

 

You're actually kidding me. I go to bed at a reasonable hour and suddenly the Breakdown/Jet Vehicon pack is unavailable? I know I've carped on about this before, but this is a supreme level of bullshit that, if anything does, will eventually push me out of collecting. Is it going to be available at Kapow or anywhere else? I am once again supremely pissed off with this situation. Absolutely fuming over here.

Okay. Kingdom thoughts? I'm not 100% on board. There's some great looking toys on show but they're not all for me, I think.

Warpath is an easy pass, but hopefully it might mean that the old Generations lad might start appearing on the secondary market. This would be the point at which I'd casually pop into Leicester Old and Vintage Toys to see if anyone's traded in their old one, but this is 2020 and we can't do nice things.

Cyclonus... yeah, I'll be getting a Cyclonus. But I'm not exactly sure yet if I'll be getting this Cyclonus. My thinking is that there isn't much redeco potential in old horny-head, and it might just end up being an '86 toy colour variant released in Selects. In which case, yeah, I'll be getting that instead. But otherwise, this is the Cyc for me. I'm resigned that Deceptijets are going to be voyager from here on in, and this mould seems to do pretty much everything that the 2008 Universe lad did but with a better back end for the alt mode, and that's a worthy upgrade. I'll be passing along the targetmaster from the deluxe though. Obvs.

I couldn't give less of a toss for Huffer/Pipes but I'll definitely bat my eyelashes and lift my skirts for Tracks. The sooner the better, please.

As for the Beast Wars lot... I'm not a huge BW fan, but I can definitely see me getting Cheetor at the very least. There's been a lot of missed attempts at getting that design right, and this one looks like it might finally get there. Blackarachnia is also a hard maybe, but I guess I was never much into that design in the first place, with the ludicrously oversized beachball chesticles. Rattrap is a simple no. Give me Transmetal or give me death. Or neither.

The Fossilisers aren't doing a lot for me either. Just not my style I guess, though I could be convinced otherwise. Weird niche characters are usually my jam, after all.

BW Megatron looks pretty great, but I'll hold fire on my excitement until we have more pictures of him. There's a lot of kibble on the back, and Hasbro have been super careful in not showing just how flat or not-flat it lies. There could be any number of surprises lurking back there, so there is room for disappointment if we get our hopes up too early. Of course, if the kibble turns out to eb fine, I'll get one without a shred of remorse.

Optimus Primal though? Booooring. YES I know that the robot mode is spot on perf and YES I know that the alt mode is spot on perf and YES I know that should make him a winner in anyone's book but come on. Can he staple himself onto the back of his future self like a creepy torture-porn movie gone wrong? I DIDN'T THINK SO.

There's a few folks hoping MP51 has the same ability- although the alt mode would be useless because the front is her bot chest

Wow. That backpack is just awful. Makes the Siege Tetra Jet alt mode look Involved. I thought we'd evolved past shellformers.
