If I remember right, the gold box was 4:3 and the silver boxes were the 16:9 versions? I remember at the time there was a valid reason to buy pan and scan over widescreen because widescreen looked like ass on VHS. The march of technology eh?

In all honesty quality isn't what get's the pictures selected. Of course it helps, but these days there are so many good picture takers if you want to compete with the 'supa clear' folk like @Maz, @Sixo, @incapable hulk, etc there is a high bar to reach.

Thus, humour is a good way to differentiate your pictures. Looking back I think last years calendar was the most humourous so far, 4 out of the 12 were specifically jokey (@Yankee0, @incapable hulk, @Avon, @scubaboy31) and avon and scubaboy31s weren't photos.

Another way to stand out is... dun dun duuun. PHOTOSHOP. Or effects at any rate. @Napalm, @kgorman79 and myself all use effects to increase the impact of our pictures. Napalms picture last year is a simple thing, Megatron standing in front of a wall, but the glow of the flowers made it (IMO) the best of his submissions last year. Kgorman79's pics are his comic cover themed pictures, which are simply awesome, and he seems to have owned December every year since... well, for the last 3 years running!

I hate to say it, as I really like this pic, as it has many positives, it's topical (MP-44 yes?), humourous (Prime has the Power) and includes MOTU (I am on a MOTU kick at the moment, fuelled by my Twitter feed) but it's probably precluded itself because... it's portrait and not landscape! This year I was supposed to work out a new way to incorporate portrait pics, but as I say I've fallen behind and instead I just did new backgrounds instead... bad tik. I'll stick it in the submissions directory and see if I can wrangle it. (Or retake it Landscape? *Cough cough*)

Anyway, sorry. I'm not sure how helpful this post actually is...

I will say though, it'd be great if all submisisons can go into this thread...

    2D Artwork: - tikgnats' 2020 Calendar thread!

Just because it makes it easier to keep track of them. Buuut this year's submissions have been slower so...

I think these are the 1997 makeover versions, very close to the DVDs. If you want the original unmolested versions in HD, I recommend you try these. Fan versions removing all the changes Lucas made over the years to restore and preserve the original cinema cut, but ina spiffing 720. Not ideal but still looks great on a 65 inch tele and better than any VHS or other versions.

Theres also a huge amount of extras and documentaries included. Great value for money. Probably not exactly legal, but they're sold as addons for people who already own Films, which, let's be realistic, we probably all do. Highly recommended.

@tikgnat, probably worth adding (to your workload) that the site is resizing any landscape pic posted to 2048x1152 automatically. So resolution on some may be lost.

Hey dude, this is all for PC, mainly running Project CARS 2. I could use it with PS4 as well if I had one.

    All the best

My first TF purchase since TFN - can’t knock it for a tenner in Home Bargains! Loved Dreadwind as a kid, had the G1 version, and of course the nostalgia buttons pressed with memories of ‘Dread Tidings’ in the comic.

Also Big Hero 6 figs are too cute to turn down at 2.99. Love that film!

    Hello everyone! Been a while...

Anyone, I have a quick question. I'm sitting here trying to transform Siege Omega Supreme, and I can't get the legs to rotate all the way - they get stuck at a 45 degree angle, and I'm reluctant to use anymore force just in case it's jammed and I break the thing! Am I doing something wrong? I've watched a couple of videos and they show a smooth motion without any kind of issues.

I had that exact moment, mate, I actually stopped and left 'em at 45° for 5 minutes, and then when I came back and very gingerly & slowly tried again suddenly they smoothly went all the way. Total mystery. No clue why, maybe the joint parts settling in? Maybe something out of alignment that the range of motion corrected because the first time the next 45° unlocked it seemed so much smoother slide compared the the first part of the ratcheting but just trying 'em now they seem to have an overall equally smooth, softer but still adequate ratcheting in the full range.

Glad it's not just me then! I'll let him sit for a bit and see if that helps.

Come to think of it, I had the same problem with Ironhide, and that mysteriously fixed itself!

They have Dreadwind at Home Bargains? time to pay mine a visit. Although there never seems to be anything in Perth.

Went to retrieve some stuff from storage but my big box of G1 still eludes me. It’s buried somewhere. Anyway my search was cut short by a killer migraine. Still suffering today but the edge has dulled a bit.

Cool I’ll report my findings tomorrow. Dreadwind is the one I’m after though. Likewise I’m a fan of his from the comics. If I find him I’ll need to track a Darkwing down as well.

Feel for you mate, I had a pain in my head for a few months, would come and go or stay for days on end always in the same place. Finally caved and saw a Doctor, turned out to be a Tension Headache. The Doc gave me some tablets that are for treating depression and along with a few ibuprofen a day it's cleared it right up.
