Yeah, I saw that twattered. I actually prefer the new version sans propellor TBH!
Extra want a Max compatible arm garage now though!

I'm really in two minds about the new reveals and line in general. On the one hand it's great that we're finally getting the full Prime at a voyager scale and Grapple looks, not unlike Sideswipe, like a mini-masterpiece - and there'd better be an Inferno repaint to make up for the mold-forced POTP one - BUT I'm sad that they're abandoning the Cybertron alt-modes and setting so early in the game. Means that if we DO get a Titan Scorponok and Deathsaurus etc they won't fit in as well as they could have AND we'll be way less likely to get Dynobots and Predators, who surely had to be a shoo-in for a 'War For Cybertron' theme??!!

Well it's all 5mm posts and holes and they're not being shy with the holes on the other figures as well, so of course you can still use it in the same way... it's just the pieces lend themselves more to buildings than they do weaponry. You could still have a sweet improvised shield or two, of course.

I am genuinely surprised by how soon we've actually left Cybertron, I was strapped in ready to ride out the waiting until possibly after chapter 3 for getting to Earth! Though with Unicron in Chapter 3 maybe it's the rest of the Headmasters and Targetmasters we'll have to wait for?

I think I prefer Siege Optimus' gun though, this one looks a little blocky to me. Also at first I wasn't a fan of the new head sculpt, but it is slowly growing on me as I continue to drool over these pictures. Also I only just noticed the nice looking sculpted detail on prime's knees!

Also a pin in his fist? Articulated fingers?

I hate to be a downer but why is the theme War for CYBERTRON going to Earth? Its genuinely gutting to see a line that had really good designs just revert back 'buy these earth mode trucks.'

In addition, I think I've properly missed the boat on Siege Greenlight, which I'm quite upset about. Only UK ones I can find are upmarked to high heaven, and looking on the US amazon throws up like 15 quid shipping+import tax. Should I just bite the bullet and pay the import fees?

Wouldn't worry about it, I missed out on her, Lancer and Elita 1. Wish I'd picked Elita up when I saw her reduced in Barnsley Entertainer last year

Well thats the thing, I already have Elita, Moonracer and Novastar. I am doing the preorder for Lancer now. I really want both Elita and Victorion on my desk but their prices are always looming in the back of my head.

What are your guys go to option in terms of ordering Transformers? I personally find Smyths toys to be the cheapest, but their stock are so hit or miss and amazon is either really cheap, or really expensive, there is no in between

Man, if Hasbro gave us this Grapple and Prime five years ago, I'd be all over them, but unfortunately (for Hasbro :p ) I've gone down the Legends + route.

I "might" get Hot house, if he gets redone, but that's only because I had his toy as a kid. And who doesn't want a fire station that turns into a tank?

New robits today!!! Sold Aragon before I even got the Fan Vote set because no thanks you goofy looking ****, thanks to this Impactor I’m swerving the regular release and I really like Mirage’s mold and transformation but YIKES I am NOT transforming him again!!

As to the MMC set......they’re.....okay, I guess. It’s a damn shame they didn’t use the original designs as these guys’ alt modes look really half-arsed.

Too many parts that don’t lock and move around when you don’t want them to and the ‘splitting in half’ gimmick keeps kicking in midway through transformation, which is very annoying indeed. Leaving it in place for Brawn is just pure laziness.

Funnily enough, though, I have found myself much preferring Brawn in hand, considering he was the one that everyone got so salty about.

I've been completely absorbed in the mystery of this toy all evening. It's clearly a heavy retool of Siege Optimus with completely new parts added, but it's quite incredible to compare the two.

You can see in the Siege figure where it was designed with this in mind, like they were leaving themselves an out in almost every place. So they could have the upper half could be completely replaced with new parts and new engineering yet it still be similar. It's mad. The lower legs are the exact same, but everything upwards has been completely changed with new parts and engineering but you can still sort of see how they got there from Siege.

    Bonkers.

    Greetings Threadizens!

WFC reveals...must say I'm really quite disappointed with the shift to Earth modes. Had been enjoying Siege a great deal but already have CHUG versions of e.g. Grapple which there's nowt wrong with and don't need another if they’re not even going to put a funny bonnet on and call it Cybertronian. It was the perfect excuse for doubling up on characters in (almost) the same scale dammit! :(

WFC #2 should have been called "Exodus" and should have featured TFs with alternate modes appropriate to the other worlds they stopped at on the way to crashing on Earth.

These alternate modes would all have looked like Earth vehicles without windscreens or sporting wacky roof racks.

This would have been fine. :cry

Oh well. Shall cherry-pick the new characters (and retroactively apply that to Siege, TEARS) and have more dosh for beer and Bayformers. :D
And of course Ironworks is fab, hope there's many more of his like to come!

Meanwhile, the estimable Tikgnat sold me ROTF Sideways. Had been after one for 8 years or so!

Am pleased to report that Sideways did not lose any time in getting in with the wrong people.

Sideways loses no time in getting in with the wrong people.png

And it looks like Rimmer was only slightly mistaken...there was a King alright, but of the Pumpkin People!

We must write and inform Mr. Flibble at once.

I think the thing that pleases me most is no battle damage anymore. If only springer had come out in earthrise. Though i wasn't getting them, i am surprised they moved away from Cybertron so quickly. I was expecting a nice little Cybertron mode group to build up.

Anyhoo, sunstorm is coming along really nicely.
