@Siege Fan, yes it was me and this a good reminder that I mean to also reply to @RabidYak, too. Thank you. I’ll build my own but it’s been a few years since I last did it. The main area I need advice with is for a motherboard so I get what I need and don’t pay for features won’t use; I find the variety motherboards dizzying. PC will likely be: 12th gen Intel CPU 3000 series nVidia GPU Small form factor case which, I think, limits me to micro-mini ATX size I only need 1 x PCI Express slot for GPU 1 or 2 M.2 SSD slots I don’t plan on overclocking Would prefer DDR5 RAM if that’s compatible with Intel 12th gen? There’s loads of other motherboard features I don’t think I need but I’m probably missing something that I do need? I’ve always gone with ASUS for GPU (partner) and motherboard; no idea if the reputable manufacturers from a few year ago are still the same today? I know someone stopped being a board partner for one of the GPU companies and Intel make GPUs, too. Hoping to get value for money by sticking with last gen with the newest Intel CPU being 13th gen and nVidea being on 4000 series. Oh, might make/buy a NAS; would be my first. Any thoughts? Cheers!
Gah, Which doesn't do parts, but have a flick through Computer Active next time you're in Tesco, I think they do a handy breakdown of the best value bits and bobs?
Quick rundown on current Intel motherboards as it's late - Zx90 boards are the top end and the only ones with CPU overclocking Hx70 boards are upper mid range Bx60 boards are lower mid range Hx10 boards are the bottom, don't even consider these as they only have single channel RAM Aside from losing CPU overclocking, the main difference at chipset spec for dropping downwards between 90-70-60 is less PCIE lanes and less USB ports. There will be more differences when it comes to what the stuff the board manufactures are putting on them at different price points. Replace the x with 6 for boards released with 12th gen and 7 for ones released 13th gen. 12th and 13th are the same socket so you can use either on either 600 or 700 boards, but 600 boards will need bios updates to use 13th chips. The main difference is that 700 boards support faster DDR5 and have more faster PCIE lanes. Both the processor gens and both the board gens all have support for both DDR4 and DDR5, but you can only have support for one or the other on a motherboard so you need to decide up front what you want and buy an appropriate board. I'd strongly advise looking round the internet for benchmarks of your specific processor using DDR4 vs DDR5 to decide whether it's worth the extra cost in your use case. Motherboard manufactures are the same folks they've been for a long time - Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, ASrock.
Let a man wank and he’ll be a wanker for a day, let a man be a fascist and he’ll be a wanker for life.
@Xaran Alamas Would you happen to have the Ursa Major BAF piece from the Marvel Legends Ironheart figure? And if so, would you like to swap it for this fine lady?
@bcm77 Had a moment of clarity (very infrequent) on seeing a Legends Black Widow I bought for the effects pieces... snipped half the bracelet off and voila!
Thank you for the summary regarding naming conventions and tiers - really helpful. @Siege Fan - thank you, too. Don’t have a Which? account myself; used my MIL’s for years before it was cancelled.
I do have it and while the idea of trying to frankenstein a BAF from the parts I have is tempting, so is that figure. I might take you up on this but I want to research the figure a little first, I'll get back to you!
I do hope they do more KOTOR/Old Republic figures in Black Series, having just nabbed a Vintage Shae Vizla from Kapow I realized I would love to get a 6" version as well, we could get a Satele Shan and Malgus to complement the upcoming Bastila Shan and Malak. Plus plenty of scope for Old Republic trooper variants
How well was the new MOTU cartoon received? I haven't seen it at all but the toy line looks to have bombed. Spoke to my mum this morning who informed me that the branch of TKMaxx she works at had reduced Sorceress figures to £1.10 this morning - and they still have 3 left. She picked 1 up for me last week at £2.50 although knowing it wasn't what I collected. My 2 youngest show an interest in my MOTU figures so she will probably find a way into my daughters dolly drawer. With the figures hitting such hard discount, I imagine MOTU may be coming to an end?
For a long time the only place really selling them was Smyths at £15 a figure, so they bombed. While I own most of them now it's only because so many went on discount. And even I'd tell you they're weirdly articulated (or just not). They must do a decent trade in America though, there's more on the way. The Entertainer has a bunch of older ones at £6. MOTU in the UK is a needless shitshow because Mattel is. But the stuff shifts, Amazon continually sells out and restocks Origins and Masterverse while our other etailers can't seem to get the quantities needed. Folks are buying £30 Origins deluxes out of desperation. It's fucking Mattel, maaaannn. It's their third biggest brand after all these decades and they're still messing it up.
@Xaran Alamas, Excellent thought! @Siege Fan, Nice work with the effect piece! Masterverse Pig Head looks amazing....so of course it'll be an Amazon Exclusive and available for about 5 seconds if we're lucky! Beast Man in that pic has a repainted head which looks great and it's also a reminder Masterverse Grizzlor is needed....but not until the 2nd wave of the Mattel Creations one has shipped! @we_are_forest, Pretty much what @Siege Fan said. BTW I thought your lads deserved a goal the other night, a couple of players also gave Casemiro one of his harder matches so far which is no mean feat!
