Actually, i'm going to guess that if their Alt mods are going to be that similar, they may be designed with different colored limbs, and packaged in robot mode to distinguish one more easily from the other.

Obviously this is Sunstreaker and a reformatted Sideswipe.

They shouldn't even be in the third film at all because of said backlash. If I made a movie and if one of the characters was crossing the line of being a stereotype, I'd write him off for the sequel. That's what should be done for the Twins. Have them go back to Cybertron and go back to basic learning. Or better yet, just have the Decepticons kill them off. It'd put a grin on my face.

I hate to burst your bubble, but the fandom as a whole is fickle. You can't please every Transformers fan, and sometimes there's gonna be something with the Transformers name on it that we won't like.

 

Possible, the fact they could be confused for different cars at a passing glance do add merit to this theory, but the colors of the stripes kinda defuse the idea that they're anybody BUT Skids and Mudflap.

Also, to counter possible arguments that those two cars are red herings like Barricade's stand-ins from the last movie, those are modified Sparks. Sure, Barricade got hauled all over the place yet he wasn't in the movie, but that was simply leftover prop cars from the first movie. To create wholy new vehicle stand ins (and modify them like that) but not use them in the movie is just a waste of budget money.

If these ARE Skids & Mudflap, then I wonder if the robot modes will end up being more unique or something, otherwise if they share a robot mode too then that's gonna make for some really simple repaint fodder on Hasbro's end.

It's the kind of lame repaint idea I don't particularly mind hasbro doing, because I can just skip it. But why put that in a movie? Did they really have to give these guys the 'stealth bumblebee' treatment?

Ironic that they repaint the 2 stereotypically black characters black.  Michael Bay's not racist at all.

Maybe these are actually Decepticons posing as the twins as part of a smear campaign against the Autobots, especially since the earlier video we saw involved "Autobots go home" graffiti. And I know, I know, Bay LOVES to mislead, but just maybe he's telling the truth, and these aren't the "real" twins after all. Which, conveniently, would explain that same video where the "twins" were "zooming around" right before the Smart Car gets tossed.

Just speculation, obviously. But still....
