Anyone wanting to get the Blu-Ray of The Transformers: The Movie 30th Anniversary, and haven't been able to find it at their local stores, let me know. I will post up the site to order them, where I got mine.

I ordered two regular Blu-rays, that came with exclusive posters, and the steelbox from Shout Factory themselves. Cost me $85 with shipping but was worth it. Saved about $5-$7 each on the Blu-rays, $7-$9 on the steelbox Blu-ray. Plus I got two exclusive posters you can only get from Shout Factory. And shipping was only $6.99. I think I got a pretty good deal. If you think about it, the Blu-Rays alone are $32.99 and the Steelbox is 35.99. Without tax, or shipping from a regular site, that is $101.97. With shipping and such it would be about $112 or so. I think I did pretty well. If anyone wants the site to order them let me know, I will give it. They ship out today, and I can't wait to get them.

    Best Regards,

Only place that had it in my town was Best Buy and all they had was the steelbook. I picked it up.

Yeah, I was a little disappointed that to see that Target didn't have it. Not that I've decided whether I'm going to double dip (or rather triple dip if you include the Kid Rhino vhs) for this. The 20th anniversary dvd still serves me pretty well.

^ Yeah my preorder from Amazon arrive today along with a Titans Return purchase. While I'm thankful to have gotten mine it still really sucks that it seems a lot of place aren't selling the rerelease and making it hard for some who want it. Good luck!

How does it work? I want the Blu-Ray, but I also want to be able to watch it on my laptop too.

Also, does anyone have a picture of the poster that comes with ordering from ShoutFactory?

What's wrong with it? I looked into it a lot and contacted Shout with some questions. Seems it's only the widescreen version and you have to use a VHX compatible device or app. Is the quality bad? Should be same as the BluRay depending on your connection speed but I never used the service and don't know what kind of file they are serving. I'm actually trying to get a digital copy because I don't have a BluRay player.

    Ebay:
Just got done watching the newly released blu ray and was dumbfounded by the number of errors in the film, almost all them being obvious coloring errors.

    Optimus missing gray stripe
    Optimus Antenna wrong color
Frenzy/Rumble both being black and red
    Missing purple on Megatron's badge
    + many more

One scene (where Ultra Magnus and crew are escaping in their ship) looked completely un-restored with scratches, hairs, dust, etc.

I have to re-watch the latest DVD release but I know there weren't this many.

Overall, I think they did a good job but I feel like they released the wrong version of the film.

Also, don't forget to manually switch it to 5.1 sound because it defaults to 2.0

    The good:
DTS Master HD 5.1 sounds incredible.
    The colors really pop.
Love seeing it in 16:9 (or whatever they want to call it).

    The bad:
It doesn't feel as HD/1080p as I had hoped.
The comment about 2.0 is true.
Navigating the menus doesn't always work. (I had to click multiple times on some selections.)

    The ugly:
That digital copy mess is a straight up nightmare.
The digital copy looks cleaner and better in a lot of scenes than the disc actually does.
The digital copy will NOT download in Chrome. I had to use Firefox on my phone and Edge/IE on PC.
I had to download VHX's crapass Android app so it would even play on my phone.

For the money paid, I have to be honest...I feel ripped off. I got it mainly for the HD and digital copy, ended up with kind of meh HD, some weird digital copy company I've never heard of and no Vudu access. (You have to rebuy it for $10.00 to get it on Vudu. Ain't that some crap?!)

If you're buying DVD/Digital Copy, don't. At least get the Blu-ray/DC if nothing else. Don't go into this for the DC, you'll come away heartbroken.

Ughhh, thanks for the heads up! But...I don't get the part where you say the digital copy looks better than the disc. So, if I'm getting it correct, you like the quality of the digital but are not happy with the delivery app? I wonder...if you can actually download the file straight to your computer, can you just add that file to iTunes or something like that after? Seems like you should be able to.

I just finished watching the new Bluray and I think it looked very good. I've only seen the 20th DVD a few times (never owned it), but I feel like they did a great job with this new transfer. It is a shame about the issues with the digital copy. Also, the new bonus features are good but nothing amazing. Still not sure why they included a widescreen version, as it's just full screen with the top and bottom chopped off. Overall, I'm happy, but I got in on the $20 Amazon preorder, so that helped.

LETTING YOU GUYS KNOW: The HD 30th anniversary edition is also available for purchase and download on iTunes store, so if you're going in for digital copy, just get it there!

It's a pretty poor quality picture but I posted mine when I got it here. I did however cut it with scissors opening the package. :(

I actually haven't gotten to sit down and watch the blu-ray yet but I have been super disappointed in the digital copy. I use VUDU with my gaming community and we've built a library of nearly 700 movies and plenty of TV shows - when I saw that the blu-ray included a digital copy I pre-ordered it on the spot only to find out it's for some crappy service called VHX.

So I had to make a VHX account to literally have a single movie available on it. I figured I would at least download the 1080p version of the movie to my laptop so I could have a copy with me at all times but NOPE! The file keeps ending in .part as the download fails multiple times of over an hour waiting for the 5gig download. This is using Firefox and judging by the comments on the VHX page where you watch the movie I am absolutely not the only one having this issue.

VUDU does have the movie available for purchase in 1080p on their service for $9.99 right now, so that's awesome but I really don't want to buy it again right now, so I e-mailed them the explanation of what happened hoping they will take our crazy amount of loyalty to the service and let me pay the disc-to-digital price or something since I don't know anyone who has a blu-ray drive on their PC to let me do it from home...

Either way, I'm very happy to finally own the movie and be able to watch it when I please. I remember when I was doing my original blog I started scouting for a copy of the movie and it carried a pretty heavy price tag for blu-ray...

Those errors have always been in the film. Plus, the stripe's not an error - Optimus doesn't have it in vehicle mode on his cartoon model.

Anyone got the previous Blu-ray to compare the two? Is the new remaster better than the previous one?

I was hoping the new version would be an upgrade (after all, it's advertised as having been rescanned in 4K), but the talk of scratches, hairs and dust has me worried.

I mean, there is good software available for automatically getting rid of such artifacts, and if all else fails you'd think they'd be easy to paint out manually. I just don't get the point of spending money to remaster the thing from scratch, only to do a half-assed job!

What happened here? Did a few frames of the original negatives get lost/damaged, meaning they had to paste in footage from the previous release (which did have a few pops and bits of dirt)?

If anyone can post a screenshot or two, that'd be great!

The widescreen verison is BASICALLY the 4:3 with the top and bottom chopped off. There is a SLIVER of extra footage at the edge. A little tiny nothing-bit of footage that for all purposes is irrelevant. You're not going to see anything exciting or film-changing there. You're going to see an additional millimeter of Prowl's finger.
