Movie Masterpiece Barricade used the stock measurements on an 05 mustang for this (saleen didn't produce a mustang in 2006) 05 mustang length: 189 inches barricade alt mode length: 6.5 inches 1/29 scale, but measuring by height (05 mustang is 65 inches tall, barricade is 2 inches tall not counting the lightbar) gives us 1/28. not really a huge difference, but seems worth noting
Legends RotF Mudflap = 1/57 Scale Toy's Alt mode= 2.5"; Bot mode = 3" Chevy Spark* = 143" (12') Robot Height = 171" (14') Incidentally, his giant hand would be just under 5' across! *using his bro's alternate mode, since "Chevy Trax" applies to two different vehicles which is totally screwing with everything...
ah, not much heavy lifting. just gotta know what you're scaling, basically. tfwiki has a lot of the makes and models listed for movie guys and guys with licensed or mostly-approximate alt modes, so once you narrow it down to the exact make, model and year of the car or whatever, googling the specs isn't usually too hard. just have to account for modifications like with movie barricade and brawl's alt modes, and the toys potentially having wonky proportions. like hftd highbrow, @Noideaforaname measured it by height because its wingspan and length were both off. it's just knowing what alt mode you're measuring and what it's supposed to look like vs how the toy really is.
Referencing Bots and Bits post on pg 7 of the oversized Seekers thread: Tanaka Space Guard - F15 19000 mm long, toy 410 mm long, yields 1:46 scale and robot (as standard for all MP11 bosts) is 43 and a bit ft tall. Robot Heroes seekers - F15 19000 mm long, toys 430 mm long, yields 1:44 scale, with all robots being 43 odd ft tall. I recently purchased MP25 and MP21 so will work out them soon. Without the maths, right off the bat, I can tell Rahul is a midget and blaster is giant sized
MP25 Tracks - I absolutely love this figure, way more than I thought I would. Everything about just screams 80s to me, which is what I want from a G1 display. So, onto the maths: MP25 - Corvette Stingray C3 4625mm long, toy 143mm long, yields 1:32 scale and robot is 18ft to head, 19ft to top of backpack and 22ft to tip of wings. As an aside, to Track's scale, blaster is 1.3 ft tall and 2.1 ft wide - so a reasonable sized boombox. Rahul has issues, as I expected, coming in at only 4.2 ft tall. MP21 - VW Beetle 4080mm long, toy 115mm long, yields 1:35 scale (MP B is the perfect CHUG) and a robot that is just under 14ft tall. It's interesting that it seems even MP autobots are not in scale to one another from vehicle to vehicle - I guess nothing is in this franchise And here is a picture:
If a VW Beetle is 4080mm long, then I guess MPM-7 is 1/29 scale. He appears to be about 140mm long in this video:
I believe that scales him closer to the other MPM vehicles and the older MP autobots (Sideswipe, Prowl etc). I have a Black Mamba Barricade en route, so will check with him. This said, a Camaro concept is around 4800 mm long (the muscle cars are often longer) so 2007 MPM BB in that photo above should be 15-20% longer than VW BB.
MB-19 Voyager HOUND is 1:41 scale I wasn't sure, which version of Mercedes Unimog (U4023 or U5023) is TLK Hound based on, so I did the calculations for both. I've skipped the length due to the customization of original Unimog. Regardless of the Unimog version, the average scale is the same.
Speed Series VW Bumblebee = 1/59 Scale Toy's Alt mode= 2.75"; Bot mode = 3.125" VW Beetle = 161" (13') Robot Height = 184" (15')
thanks to @Lothar Hex for the toy measurements and Bell AH-1 SuperCobra Attack Helicopter - United States for the real super cobra's measurements Studio Series Dropkick AH-1 Super Cobra - 45.5 feet long Studio Series Dropkick - 8 inches long in alternate mode 1/68 scale
Oooh, sounds like he'd fit right in with my ~1/60ish scaled Cons. Also going by Lothar Hex's review thread, Dropkick is about 4.5" tall (judging against TR Misfire), which would make his "real" height 26' or so.
So, I finally got an MP10 and Spike suffers the same Hobbitism as Rahul - they are both 1:45 scale, unlike the 1:35 ish scale vehicles they come packaged with. Spike is perfect scale for a Robot Heroes seeker, though.
thanks to @AutobotAvalanche for measuring generations whirl's length for me. i know there's a scale for him on the front page already, but that was measured by rotor diameter instead of length, and figured since he's based off the same helicopter as studio series dropkick i'd work out a more consistent scale between the two. Generations Whirl AH-1 Super Cobra - 45.5 feet long Generations Whirl - 8.25 inches long 1/66 scale. a basically scout-sized super cobra and a voyager sized one end up being almost the exact same length because whirl's alt mode is basically a a helicopter top half plopped onto some robot limbs. we saw a similar deal with a rotf breakaway and prime dreadwing. despite being the same kind of vehicle in two different size classes, dreadwing ends up at a smaller scale than breakaway by length because again, dreadwing's a tiny voyager that's 90% robot limbs with the top of a jet kinda layed on there.
This is the closest I think you can get with MP/classic style vehicles in scale. Cars 1/35ish and seekers 1/45ish. I'd really love an 80s style Jeep and Porsche racing car in 1/35 scale for a Hound and Jazz to round it off - they just don't exist (the 3rd party offerings in are the lager 1/29 scale of earlier MP cars). Interestingly, MP10 is the right length and height for a prime mover and trailer but too wide - the trailer is almost in scale to Robot Heroes seeker length wise, as there are images of F15s being transported on semi trailers with the wings, jets and nosecone removed.
TLK Legion Crosshairs = 1/64 Scale Toy's Alt mode= 2.75"; Bot mode = 2.75" Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray = 177" (15') Robot Height = 177" (15') TLK Legion Drift = 1/72 Scale Toy's Alt mode= 2.5"; Bot mode = 3" Mercedes-AMG GT R = 179" (15') Robot Height = 216" (18') Drift wearing a big helmet and shrinking down a lot for car mode is an interesting combination.
Back into this after a long hiatus- I didn't see TLK Deluxe Hot Rod listed here yet. Lamborghini Centenario alt mode: Length=4,924 mm Width=2,062 mm Toy Length=135 mm Toy Width=56 cm Scale=1/36
And since there was some question a few pages back, I remeasured Human Alliance Soundwave- it actually came out in between the two previous suggestions, in scale with the other DOTM HA figures, which makes sense. Mercedes SLS AMG alt mode: Length=4,638 mm Width=1,939 mm Toy Length=170 mm Toy Width= 75 mm Scale= 1/26-1/27 (the toy has stubbier proportions than the actual car)
TR Trypticon = 1/192 Scale Tryp's design is rather ambiguously scaled, so he could fit in just about anywhere. But he's got roads sculpted on so why not try figuring it out from there? Granted roads vary quite a bit, but at least we can get some idea... The two-lane streets on Trypticon are about 1.5" wide, while "The Interstate Highway standards for the U.S. Interstate Highway System use a 12-foot standard lane width"... that is, real two-lane streets would be 24' (288") wide. Ergo, 1/192 scale. Which all translates to: Proper Theropod Nose-to-Tail Length (25" on the toy) = 363' Taildragger Height (19.5") = 312' City Mode width (~37") = 592' City Mode height with guns extended (15") = 240' Sky Lynx and Movie Springer are about this scale, too, which is pretty fun. We'd need tiiiiiiiiny cars, though. Like Titan Master size, or a bit smaller than that. TR Full-Tilt = 1/192 Scale Toy Bot mode= 5.5" ; Alt mode= 4" "Real" Bot mode = 1056" (88'); Alt mode = 768" (64') TR Necro = 1/192 Scale Toy Bot mode= 1.375" "Real" Bot mode = 264" (22')
