What would there even be to talk about Voltron? The fact that there’s just a million toys of the same dude, the first time they tried to bring the toyline back and failed, or the second time they tried to bring the toy line back and failed, or the THIRD time they brought the toy line back and failed?

Same thing with Go Bots. They didn't really last more than like two years. Maybe one episode on failed toy lines or something might be interesting.

Both of those could make good episodes.

Cabbage Patch Kids was one of the first fistfights in aisles products and really put a media focus on toys.

Thundercats is a really unusual property in that it was a cartoon that got a supporting toyline (in exchange for paying for closed captioning and ensuring that any FCC requirement costs were met) rather then a toy commercial to sell the figures.

the TMNT and Wrestling eps were good. TMNT one was a little sad. will eventually get to MLP and MMPR but never cared for either so no rush.

Saw the MLP, the editing and direction of the episode was great. It's a good story well told.

BTW, I have no idea if it would make an interesting episode, but I sure wouldn't mind a Dino Riders episode.

Saw the TMNT ep last night. I thought it was interesting. Hopefully those guys can work it out in the future. It be great to see them both work on whatever Netflix has in store.

These would be utterly fascinating episodes but I feel like they're both too divorced from the heavily-western nature of the show.

That said, Hello Kitty got an episode... but she also has more of a presence in NA than Gundam or Zoids. (so far)

    I would like to see--

    Mego worlds greatest heroes
    70s to 90s marvel toys
70 to 90s dc comics toys
    Force five
    Robotech/ macross
ghostbusters toys / filmation toys battle (tons of stuff there!)

As for Voltron don't forget they had two recalls in the 80s (one toy was full of lead!) plus the unaired Voltron 3 cartoon and
    short lived Voltron 3 toy!

I recently started watching these. So far I've watched the Transformers one, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles one, and the He-Man one. Though I really need to rewatch the He-Man one as it didn't really have my full attention, so I missed a lot of it.

Cabbage Patch Kids, Hot Wheels, NERF and home video game systems (particularly Sega & Nintendo) seem the most logical for the last batch of toys that absolutely changed & shifted the entire game.

Cabbage Patch Kids were essentially THE official start of crazed psychotic moms killing & trampling each other over, damn near every boy on the planet had Hot Wheels aka dinky cars, NERF was fucking huuuuuuge when it showed up and subsequently took off overnight, and of course Sega & Nintendo honed & completely mainstreamed the schtick of Activision, Atari & Intellivision and created the Coke/Pepsi war equivalent of home systems. Though, forgetting any personal preference or bias of Sega fans, they really could do an entire episode just on Nintendo. Super Mario Bros.' popularity alone would justify it.

Either way, I'm sure at least two of these have to be in the pipeline for next season. My money's on CBK & Hot Wheels.

FYI- one of my local friends and TFW poster @Reigner had a pic of his collection of TMNT figures shown during the end credits of the Turtle episode.

    Resized_20191120_231525.jpg

I've seen his collection in real life (and proudly contributed to it), and that one shot just doesn't even touch how amazing it is.

I’ve loved pretty much every episode of this show I’ve watched so far (still need to see the wrestling, MLP and MMPR episodes). I was never much into those three franchises, however, the people who put these shows together do such a great job sucking you in to the story that I’m sure I’ll enjoy them. It’s funny how the success of some of these franchises seems almost accidental when you get to see how much of a shoestring operation it was behind the scenes before they really took off. Good stuff.

Gobots lived on in japan with machine robo getting three cartoons. In france gobots were a huge hit and got the first anime dubbed as a gobots series with the challenge of the gobots france VA returning to voice the gobots under the title "revenge of the gobots!"

Gobots has a bigger history overseas.

Watched the Wrestling figure episode. It was entertaining, but with zero nostalgia and with the MLP episode being so good, this one felt like the weakest of the bunch.

I also found it amusing they glossed over why Word Wrestling Federation had to rebrand themselves and I think they spent a bit too much time with "Jewish Lightning".
