This is what I think of when I see the name Skyhook: Fulton surface-to-air recovery system - Wikipedia
Can someone Photoshop this guy with sunglasses in place of the T-1000 in the style of the movie poster for The Terminator?
Damn, trying to order this guys and my Target order got cancelled. I can't even take advantage of the additional $10 off.
Bumblebee rounds the spiral-like, gravel strewn rim of a large strip mine. Scanning for the motion and unusual energon readings his long range sensors picked up earlier from miles away, his optics move over the depths of the mine. Detecting movement he transforms, hurling himself into the pit and landing deftly, blaster at the ready. Hoping he hasn't been hasty. Looking up, prepared (or so he thought) for anything, terror grips Bee's small clockwork heart as the unmistakable silhouette of Long Haul looms before him in the sunset's elongated shadows. Bee knows in an instant that he stands no chance. Not against this team. He braces for impending death, tightly closing his optics, when suddenly... "Hey! Bumblebee! Fancy meeting you here, brother!" an unfamiliar, jocular voice calls out. Bee opens one eye. He isn't sure what he's seeing initially. It's Long Haul and Bonecrusher, and yet... not. Bee: "W... what's going on here?" Mega Dozer: "What do ya mean? We're processing some ore into energon like Prime asked, brother!" Bee: "Prime? What? Aren't you guys the Constructicons!?" Mega Hauler: "Huh? Oh! Oh, no no no. We're the TONKABOTS! See, look, brother!" he chuckles, pointing to the large red Tonka branding on his chassis. Bee: "What? But... Tonka is an earthling toy brand and you guys are... life size construction vehicles building a strip mine in the desert. I..." Mega Hauler: "Don't question it, Bee. Just go with it, brother!" Bee: "Wait! You look 100% identical to the constructicons! And we never built any of you, and I've never, ever heard of Tonkabots before! You're literally just yellow and red constructicons!" Mega Dozer: "We, are not the constructicons, brother!" Bee: "And why do you keep calling me brother...?" Mega Dozer: "We're not them, brother!"
The names they used don't even seem to be similar to traditional Tonka trucks which often added "Mighty" before the vehicle type. Using Gobot names would have made sense as an added connection since they were imported by Tonka. However, a 3-way may have been too much for Hasbro. Damn, I want this (don't have a G1style Devastator now but did have the original as a kid) though it's a bit more expensive than I'd like. Didn't read the news right away so I already missed it.
I wondering if they will have upgrade kits like they did with the original G1 Devastator? I would like to get the Junkion Blacksmith JB-07 Power of Destruction for my G1 Devastator but I can't find it anywhere. I was able to get the Xtransbots XP-1 Destroyer upgrade parts, which may be the last one in existence, but it still hasn't been delivered yet. Here's hoping some new upgrade kits will come along with the new Tonkanator.
I wish the Tonka stickers werent preapplied. It being a crossover is the least interesting thing about this to me.
I feel like the reason is that a lot of the vehicles were named very simply. Like the "Mighty Dump Truck". Or the "Bulldozer". Thus, giving them simpler names would make it fit the naming conventions of Tonka. Plus, they might as well be Go-Bot Names. Like, Mega Dozer, Power Digger, Motorload, Skyhook, Mega Hauler, and Motormix. They sound like they could be Go-Bots if Tonka named the Constructicons if they chose to go with Takara instead of Bandai
The only thing about that is that when gas prices were low, they didn't lower the prices on their products, they merely masticated the extra profits. So pardon me for not buying that as an excuse when they go up.
