That's getting closer to a realistic price. Still a bit high imo, but I could see the appeal to a Tonka/TF fan.
mine got here today- couple things i got an extra one of the tiny black guns. all the missile launchers are gutted. no springs. putting on the stickers constitutes a hate crime.
There is no defense for the G1 mold. It was bad even by G1 standards. I was referring to this down sized CW KO. I actually paid under 50$ shipped for mine but that's been awhile ago. Is the image of it next to CW Abominus not showing? Anyways here it is again just in case. For the record I didn't ask anyone to defend the G1 toy either. I simply asked how people justify 100$ in their minds for this recolor/re-release of it. At 50$ I could understand it novelty/nostalgia. 100 just feels like gouging fans to me. I've gone to bat in other threads defending Hasbros new mainline pricing too. I'm not some anti Has/Tak guy. This one to me is completely nostalgia driven extortion. I'm sure I'm coming off as a dick about this, but I don't mean to be. It's a genuine question. How does one justify this to themselves? What about this makes it worth that price point to you?
The image was there, but it confused rather than helped. I knew that Abominus couldn't be had so cheaply, nor CW Devastator (which was a different size). Frankly, I don't think anyone needs to defend their own spending decisions to you or anyone else. But I refuse to use a KO as a price comparison to official Hasbro product in any event. It's apples and oranges.
I called Target's Customer Service number and got a price adjustment . Also, if they give you a hard time, just order another one and return one to the store!
Here's some information on the price match policy, for anyone else who might want to take advantage. I just got off the phone, myself, and the person made the process fairly simple. Article Detail Page
I got mine a few weeks back with a different combo of coupons and offers. Also, some people have a Target.com coupon for $10 off $60 purchase. So that'd apply if you bought Tonka.
I justified it based on the price of an official G1 Devastator. Simply put, it was going to be the least expensive way of getting an official G1 Devy mold. I also thought the Tonka tie-in was fun. At face value, I agree with you that this thing should not cost $100. It should probably be $50 or $60…maybe less. AND, I cancelled my Pulse preorder, honestly. I really don’t have the space for it…and it might just end up at Target for $50 eventually anyway. And due to the space issue, I probably won’t even buy it then.
IF they'll let you. Some Target's say they have to "process" it before allowing for repurchase... and all that means is they throw it into a restock bin until someone puts it back on the sales floor.
Tonkanator doesn’t need your pre-defined stickers. Tonkanator is free to express himself however he wishes and doesn’t need The Man keeping him down.
