The film’s tie-in comics (comics that were not adaptations of the films, but rather supplementary material to build up the world) are fairly unknown, which is a shame because there are some really great elements that deserved to appear in the films. FIRST FILM Transformers: Ghosts of Yesterday - Transformers Wiki A S7 spacecraft, reverse-engineered from Megatron’s body, is sent on a space mission and encounters the Autobots and Decepticons. This actually serves as a more legitimate reason as to how the Transformers were guided to Earth for the AllSpark (and makes more sense than the “eBay” explanation). This deserved a mention at least from Banachek. Transformers: Movie Prequel - Transformers Wiki There’s nothing too special except Bumblebee arriving on Earth and searching for clues to the AllSpark. A brief scene of him searching for clues, similar to Blackout, would probably have contributed to the film and to him tracking down the Witwickys to Bobby Bolivia. ROTF Transformers: Alliance - Transformers Wiki Highlights of the comic include: - Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime’s hologram - a funny scene with Ratchet (Image:Alliance1 Ratchet Dew.jpg - Transformers Wiki) - a great scene with Lennox and Optimus where they discuss their NEST alliance Transformers: Defiance - Transformers Wiki This actually explored HOW Megatron was corrupted by the AllSpark and the war began on Cybertron. It might have been impossible to show on screen, but it was a definite great read. Transformers: Tales of the Fallen - Transformers Wiki This was a series of comics focusing on a particular Autobot/Decepticon. Most notable is Jetfire turning against the Fallen, that would have been incredible to have seen. Transformers: Nefarious - Transformers Wiki Can you believe it? The Bayverse had its own MECH and Silas! Only the organization was known as the Initiative, their leader was a William Stryker ripoff named Carter Newell, and they were interested in recreating the Allspark and wiping out all the Transformers! It would have been great to see in live-action. DOTM Transformers: Sector 7 - Transformers Wiki This was pretty much Jetfire’s life story, exploring his time on Earth: he was a battleship in the 1800s, he had a punch-up with Megatron, Eleanor Roosevelt beat the slag out of him, then he ended up captured by Nazis but beat them up... he had a heck of a time. Wish there were reports of his exploits mentioned in the film. Does anyone else look at the tie-in comics, and is there anything they liked enough to feature in the films?
I loved the tie-in comics, and I have to say...FLATLINE. Flatline is the one who put Arcee in three bodies in ROTF (yeah, that was all Arcee--NOT Arcee, Chromia, and Elita-1, thanks), as well as the guy who was supposed to have made the combiner, Devastator. Apparently he was originally planned for the movie, but got cut back to a single story in Tales of the Fallen...well, and a cameo/mention in Foundation. Which was also good, by the way. My fanboy heart breaks for this. All my money to Michael Bay if Flatline makes it into TF4 with his intended hearse altmode. ALL OF IT.
The DOTM prequels confirm that the Blue Arcee and Purple Arcee bodies are actually her actual sisters back from the death, but they now share a link and can feel what the other feels and such
Really? That wasn't what they said it was in the Tales from the Fallen story. Then again, I know that some of the prequel comics are contradictory to each other. I hadn't had the chance to look at the DOTM ones; for some reason, my local shop didn't pick them up.
Agreed. His should be the main medic instead of Knockout. especially since Knockout is a Autobot in this continuity.
yep, they are, plus the blue and purpel arcees are reffered as Chromia and Elita-1 in Rising Storm, in Issue 3 elita says that Optimus left her in Cybertron and she died and then came back to life, reffering to her death in reign of Starscream Plus in Issue 1 Optimus monologue says this "Elita-One is my longest-serving soldier. my oldest... friend she and chromia were killed by Decepticons and Arcee nearly joined them but a mad Decepticon doctor used them for an experiment manipulating Arcee's life force to reignite the spark of her sisers" thus confirming that the Blue and Purple Arcees are actually the real Chromia and Elita-1 back from the death
Damnit I HATE when I miss retcons! Thanks for clearing that up then. I wish they'd picked one explanation to begin with and stuck with it though, what a pain.
Ah right, that was when Mowry was still trying to somehow carry over the first movie's humor into the comics, before he decided to revert back to the traditional "boring and strictly plot-based" IDW movie tie-in comic style.
