I just read through this entire thread and have watched the video review at Shapeways. I can't believe I haven't heard of this before now and am really excited to place an order. These things feel like a steal for $7 and I'm planning to order multiple, but I don't want to total to balloon on me too much! I'm thinking about getting one FUD and 2-3 WSF, but now I'm curious about how the WSF polished will turn out. WHY HAVEN'T ANY OF YOU GOTTEN THIS IN TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK YET?!? I don't think I can wait. This is simply amazing and I hope I can paint them well enough to do them justice.
Those look incredible. I really want a Frenzy and Rumble without paying a fortune. SO how much would a painted set cost?
Well depending on the material used, anywhere from 14 to 24, but with shapeways you need to have a minimum order of $25 If I had realized beforehand that the charge for shipping was already calculated in I would of gotten a couple more.
Thanks for the support guys! It's not about why, but when...I ordered my polished samples like 2 weeks ago and they are still not in production. Sigh I'm just as anxious as you are... Nicely done dude! I wish you could have broke the colours up more though...The amount of red just makes them look so delicious lol Lol... As I tell everyone, get 4! Don't neglect the shattered glass versions Thanks!
Good news everyone! I got a reply from Shapeways and my replacement parts were finally put into an official order. Hopefully another couple weeks and I should have the second set. I think I am getting a full reprint so if anyone needs parts for the FUD let me know.
Got my two Chaps yesterday. Material ist white strong flexible Didnt have the nerve yesterday to build the 2nd one. He´s really really tiny. Way to tiny for my hands ^^ But i love hime. Fakebusker is there a chance of you resizing them? I´dd love to have one or two of them in lets say 1,5times the size or depending on the price even twice the size. Cheers Jack
Got mine in black, drybrushed them in tin and highlighted them in red or blue. Having trouble fitting them in Soundwaves chest.
Got a pick of how you did the alt mode? Mine it currently stored in Soundwave. There aren't a lot of pics of the transformation process out there so I had to mess with it a bit to figure it out at first.
Seems like a version of them that has 5mm posts for attaching to toys would be good. if they were made bigger as an option for using alongside Scouting force X or The perfect effect ones. I think they'd complement them as they look like Launchers rather than Guns. I was wondering also how they fit with Cyberverse Commanders - are any of the joint or holes 3mm compatible ? - could you use them as rocket pods under Powerglide's Wings ? or sit in the holes on Blackout's underside. I also think they'd make great rocket pods for Tomahawk's helicopter mode if there was a way to attach them. I have to say this is the second nicest small Robot i've seen from a Shapewayser only beaten by the Hex Pods which I adore the most.
Nice...So I guess they didn't charge you extra for them right? I'm still slightly envious you have a full set of working FUD Thuggers. They look beautiful as they are unpainted. Have you painted the one you have yet? Aww..he looks cute standing next to Unicron. Why don't you build the second one? WSF is very safe to assemble compared to other materials, it's rare you have it snap on you. To make a resized version, I have some issues with that. First then they would not fit into Soundwave, which takes away their main reason for being designed this way. Who's gonna make a WFC voyager Soundwave for these guys? Second, the PE guys has already filled this size niche. I don't wanna step on their toes. Last, as they would be standalone characters with no real interface with any official figure, I'll be striding dangerously into official 3rd party territory (as if I'm in not enough trouble as it is ) @Farrk You got to make sure the legs are folded in as tight as possible and not let them stick out and block stuff. When you look into Soundwave's chest there are some screw thingies at the top 2 corners you have to be aware of as you're pushing the Thuggers in. Wriggling them slightly helps too. As sixpoints and me have successfully packed them into Soundwave with no issues, you can do it too. Carefully. @sixpointsinspace Thanks brother The round peg things sticking out of the side in cassette mode are actual 5mm pegs, so they can be held by most figures, albeit in an awkward fashion. You can mount them on any (most.) mechtech figure as well no problem. In fact I am plugging the Thugger on several figures now...Terradive, Scourge and hold it, DOTM Megatron and Cyclonus couldn't. Mileage may vary. I was actually anticipating the arrival of cyberverse when I designed their weapon mounts, so that they can hold cyberverse 3mm weapons as well, but I made a boo boo in the measurements so it doesn't work for version 3.0. A big part of the upcoming version 4.0 will be to correct this error. But for those who ordered Thugger 3.0 don't be upset, 4.0 is only for compatibility with cyberverse. I'll still be supporting 3.0 But to answer your question, they do not have any 3mm peg holes... Thanks for your compliments too. What's a Hex pod?
My latest experiment is trying to release Thuggers in a mix of 2 materials, using Ultra Detail for the tinier parts to capture all the detail, and Strong Flexible for all the load-bearing pieces. Works out pretty well as I have absolutely no issues in assembly and the joints are tight and good. Minimal clean up too, I just need to do a little scrapey scrapey on the rougher parts of the FUD pieces. For now I will not release these officially yet, but it all depends on audience response. It's kind of a hassle to wait for 2 separate packages that might arrive at different times. The White Strong Flexible Polished pieces too forever to arrive. Besides, sixpointsinspace has shown that assembly in FUD is indeed possible. What do you guys think? Painted pictures will arrive soon.
I haven't painted yet. Going to wait got the second guy to arrive. You are correct, they didn't charge me again our for shipping. Took a while for them to get it rolling but they were cool about it. Look forward to them coming.
Now that the slammers are available I finally placed my order for a pair of these figures. I ordered the White Strong Flexible Polished material. It seems to offer detail I want and according to Fakebuster is strong enough that I shouldn't have to worry drastically about breaking them. And now the long wait until they arrive.
