Title says it all. Let's have one single giant thread where everything concerning characters' voices is gonna be discussed! Weather it being who should or should not and who does voice certain character, let's talk about it right here, instead of having countless other threads titled "Who should voice this guy or who should voice that guy...", let this be the one thread that combines all of it. Rumors about potential voice actors, already confirmed ones and so on...here! That way it's gonna be neatly and much easier for use.

Now, that being said, do you guys believe they'll pay attention to Barricade's voice from TF1? It's not even confirmed that Jess Harnell will be voicing him but if he does, which I'm about 75% sure it's gonna happen, will they edit his voice the way they did in the first movie. I'm talking about the 'echo' effect? That gave the voice a more robotic tone and it did sound badass, a little like Soundwave. Is there a slight chance they might do it again, I mean after all they seem to be giving a shit about a lot of stuff this time around? What do you think? I believe it is highly possible.

 

It's best to wait for an official press release confirming any voice actors then look to Wikipedia or IMDB.

 

I hope they use Barricade's TF1 voice for TLK.

 

I'm hoping for something a little different from both the TF 1 voice and the DOTM voice. The way I see it he has a radical redesign, presumably from getting heavily injured in Chicago. Consequently, I want a voice that's a little different. Think the difference between Weaving's Megatron and Welker's Galvatron. Something along those lines.

I think it would be neat if Onslaught had a British accent, although I think he should sound rougher around the edges than his G1 counterpart.

 

For some weird reason, I can imagine Clancy Brown voicing Onlsaught.

 

I've been thinking of something like this, perhaps he recieves a vocal upgrades as well as body upgrades when 'whoever does whatever to him' happens.

 

TBH i'm really not expecting Onslaught to talk. He's gonna be like the not-Blackout in ROTF, probably suffering a similar fate.

 

I hope they use his TF1 game voice for TF5. Keith David can play a nasty villain.

I do hope Frank Welker returns as Megatron. It'd be a huge cop out if they brought in Hugo Weaving back despite saying he never gave a damn about Megatron or the Red Skull.

 

I don't know. At this moment Onslaught is a big unknown as far as robot characters go. I guess I could see him going either way.

My guess though is that Onslaught is one of those characters introduced in this film to be given a larger role in a future film. I don't think he'll be as major as Megatron, Barricade, or the Quintessons, but I think he'll be more substantial than, say, any of the ROTF Constructicons.

 

I just have the feeling that they might want to keep Onslaught alive if they are starting a cinematic universe.... Perhaps set him up for Bruticus in the future.

Either Mohawk or Hooligan are just going to bite it I feel....

 

I reckon he'll be Mark Ryan's TF5 character.

I had higher hopes for onslaught, but now we've seen he's a recycled model i dont expect much. I dont think we've ever gotten much character from "green" models before. Maybe you can think of one?

 

Yeah, I definitely suspect one of those guys kicking the bucket.

Was it said he was definitely a recycled model? From what I have read at the TFWiki set visit page it said the following:

TFWiki.net: "Onslaught is right out of the Revenge of the Fallen era of design, a hulking brute as wide as he is tall."

It didn't say he was a reused model, only that his design was ROTF-esque.

Of course that doesn't mean he's not a reused model, but it hasn't been confirmed, and the one clip of him is kind of blurry since he's (almost certainly) in the background behind Megatron.

If he is a reused model, there's a first for everything. I don't think any other reused model ever got an announcement on Bay's website and Transformers social media like Onslaught did.

 

Ahh maybe i jumped the gun a bit, tbh Im mainly going by what people around here were saying about him looking like long haul in the trailer. I'll try to be more optimistic!  

 

I can tell you this much. There are definitely strong similarities in design as far as vehicle kibble placement, so it's a strong possibility, but it's something I can't be 100% sure on until I see a better shot of Onslaught.

As for VAs, I seriously hope Welker is voicing Megatron this time around.

 

Well I hope they add some effects to the voice. Maybe it's just way too episodes of Doctor Who and too many episodes with G1 Soundwave but there is just something cool when they add in some non-human elements to mechanical voices.

If you guys check out the TF TLK page on Wikipedia it List Voice actors. Says Alan Tudyk as Hot Rod, Dee Bradley Baker as Squeeks, Mark Hamil as Headmaster, Mark Ryan as Onslaught, Gary A. Williams as Hooligan and Mohawk and interestingly John Do Maggio as Megatron.
