Hey everyone! I've been wanting to make a thread like this for quite some time now, and I've finally got off my butt to do it  

This thread is pretty much what it says on the tin; You can discuss events within the community, bring (non-political) news relating to LGBT events here, ask questions about the community, introduce yourself and provide support to your fellow guys, gals and nonbinary pals!

Please remember to respect the rules of TFW2005, we don't want things getting out of hand. Please don't post LGBT news that's connected to politics or religion!! Also, please keep the ace discourse to an absolute minimum.

I might as well start off with introducing myself. I'm Pin, and I'm a transgender boy. At the time of posting this, I'm currently questioning my orientation; I'm not sure if I'm gay or somewhere on the ace spec, but I'll figure it out eventually. I do know that I'm pretty gay for a lot of robots, though... 

 

I'm straight but I am supportive of all this so that's cool.

 

I don't think this is a good idea for the long term. There are some members who don't share the same opinion and in the end if someone states there opinion and 1 person don't like it this thread will go downhill. I don't think we need a thread like this on a forum site about kids toys and collecting.

 

You know what just that one line this threads already awesome though in all seriousness lets hope this won't get closed itd be nice to discuss this topic without things turning sour

 

Well, if if TFW truly embraces political neutrality, perhaps those people will just keep their opinions to themselves?

Tbh, my identity is not a politically charged thing. Or, if it is, that says a lot more about the person who construes it that way than me.

That said.... None of this would be an issue if they hadn't killed groups on here. *grumbling*

ANYWAY. I'm an intersex trans girl, and I really only like other gals.

So. I guess, like, three different shades of weird. *awkward laughter*

But of course then this is one of those threads where if you don't have nothing nice to say even if it's neither nice or mean don't say it right? Which I don't feel is fair.

Personally I just feel this to much tie ins to "No no" topics. There's my 2 cents and a quatar. I'm but what do I know? I'm just a freshman that needs to finish his Spanish homework.

You go guys and girls, and those in between! Be who you are and do what feels right for you.
I'm one of the heterosexual types but fully support those that are homosexual, bi, or anything in between or outside of those labels.
I also hope that this thread doesn't get out of hand. I'm sure there's a few members here that could use the support of like minded people without prejudiced and close minded folks getting in the way.

 

I don't think it has to do with age group. I don't know what any of these terms being used mean to be frankly honest. All I know is Trans,Gay,Lesbian.

 

Having questions is the exact opposite of something to forgive! It's wonderful! It shows that you're entering the conversation to learn and not pass judgement or make assumptions!

"Intersex", in short, is a term for any individual who possesses a major degree of mixed sex characteristics.

Once upon a time, the term "hermaphrodite" was used in its stead, but it fell out of favor, as true "hermaphrodites" possess fully functional male AND female reproductive systems, and are capable of reproducing using either set. Very few intersex humans actually work that way, as sex-hormones have the habit of jamming up the reproductive organs they are not intended to foster development in, so "Intersex" was picked up instead.

"Trans" is a pre-fix attached to a gender-term, to denote the fact that the person in question was not labeled at birth as that their actual gender is.

Well, in all fairness, it depends on whether or not the individual can phrase their opinions in a constructive manner as opposed to a destructive manner. Then again, some opinions are better kept to one-self. You're right though, it can be one of those "no-no" topics. As long as everyone discussing things aren't actually going against the rules, I think it should be ok. But I'm no mod, so don't quote me on that.

 

No need to try to learn everything at once. Having an open-minded attitude will take you far.

As for Facebook and gender, you might find it's far more useful think of as a spectrum in this context, with the binary notions of "man" and "women" on either side.

Someone who does not identify as either of those two still exists on the spectrum, just not along either of those two binary points.

All those labels, those "fifty genders", as you put it, are people's ways of quantifying themselves when their gender does not fall under "male" or "female" neatly.

If you can understand that, you're golden. You don't necessarily need to study every single one of those identity-terms painstakingly, unless you run across a person to whom they apply, and you wish to understand them.

With emphasis on these rules:

1. No politics - LGBT rights are closely linked with politics, I know, but keep those specifically political news stories and issues out of this thread.

2. This thread is for Discussion AND Support - bring both, or don't bother. If you don't support LGBT issues, then best not to post. Trolls will be removed.

Straight up here but ya def gets my support. Have had lots of gay friends over the years and two uncles. Well, an uncle and his partner but we called him uncle too. They passed away in the mid to late nineties from hiv/AIDS but after twenty years, I miss them dearly. They were two of the kindest, most intelligent men I've ever known and parted much wisdom upon me in my younger years. Kudos to you for this thread!
